Wuts Up guys. My timing belt snapped last week. It snapped on me early in the morning on my way back from the clubs on my birthday. I have searched and read about timing belts being snapped, but I still wanted to ask a couple of questions just to get some fresh answers and suggestions. I am a college student so my money is very limited, especially since I just had the entire motor rebulit in Feb. I'm sure with my luck and from what I have read, heard, and learned is that when my belt snapped I bent some valves. So I basically need a head job. The thing is I dont have like 800 bucks laying around. I know of a junkyard with a 2 gen gst sitting where I got another dash out of. Do you guys recommend taking the head off of that car and putting it on mine. Im sure i would need to replace some seals and stuff, but that should be a whole lot cheaper that having to send mine to the machine shop. When the motor was rebuilt I had new water pump, oil pump, belts, gaskets, etc. replaced. Im really in shock that my timing belt snapped.
Or maybe should I look into buying a rebuilt head? How much do those generally cost? I live in Orland and got UCF. Anyone know where I could purchase a rebuilt head from? Any suggestions, advice, comments would be greatly appreciated, I really need to get my car up and running again. If there is anyone in this area who knows how to work on these cars and is looking to make some extra cash and could help me out please let me know. Thanks again guys for any help you can provide.
