Need some advice.. here's the story...

My T25 blew.. so i ended up replacing it with the Evo3 16g from slowboy racing. Did all the work.. front mount, fuel pump.. etc.

Was on the highway tuning my car, with DSM link, doing a 3rd gear pull.. my car shuts off and won't start.. thinking it was the clutch, had it towed to a shop to figure out my timing belt had snapped..

Problem is I replaced the timingbelt along with the balance shaft belt.. tensioner, and all new pulleys like 5k miles ago..

Because i modded my car.. is that why my belt snapped or was it done wrong?

My fault dude, I do mean the bottom end should be fine, meaning the pistons, but yes, I agree the head is done.

when mine broke on my gst, it smashed the tops of the pistons and scratched the cylinder walls. not to mention the valve stem that fell into the fully spooled big16g that had like 10 miles on it ROFL

o remember when i got a new timing belt from the local parts shop for my gs and it was a goodyear brand i took a look at it and noticed on part of it it was really thing and worn halfway off in one part. i asked for a different one imediatly and i could only imagine what would have happend to my car if i put that first timing belt in... :|

same thing happened to me.
Is it common for any car to bend valves when the timing belt breaks? I thought it was possible to break a timing belt without breaking the rest of your car.

with almost all engines with an OHC set up the valves are designed with zero clearance [It's not "zero" clearance, but they are interference designs.] so the the timing belt breaks and valves stick open while the engine is spinning the valves get bent. most racing crate engines are designed different though due to the fact that they're built ot endure steady beating. on the other hand though if you get a car with and internal cam and the timing chain breaks since the valvetrains are designed different on those almost all have enough clearance to avoid banging valves [Nevermind. You have little clue.]
