i have a 99 eclipse auto n/a.i was wondering how much power the auto transmission can hold.i plan to build the motor but as everyone knows there are not any parts to bulid the auto tranny.and i also dont want to swap the tranny for a manual. what is my best bet to do.does any one know the most hp i could get out of the motor with out messing up the auto tranny:dsm:

I also have the 420a with an Auto trans. I have had Nitrous for a long time, and I just now Turbo'd the car. I'm only running 8psi but the tranny is fine. I think just like anything, if you maintain it well and change your tranny fluid often (using atf+3 for chysler tranny's) it will handle a descent amount of power! Now remember this cars is Front Wheel Drive so Don't do burnouts and donuts. And dont go around turns doing burnouts, cause that destroys your differential.

I have about 120,000 miles on the car and the only thing I ever did to the drivetrain was replace the CV shafts and have my differential carrier pin welded in place....It is known to slid out and crack the trans casing, destroying your whole tranny. As far as How much horsepower it will handle I can't say, But I have ran anywhere from 200 - 300 Horsepower with no troubles at all!

my friend also drives a 420a with an auto tranny and he added a turbo kit and was run 6-8 psi. after several runs at the track and by several I meen about 65 the tranny started to show the wear and he started having trouble with it he got it replaced 40,000 miles ago and has had no trouble since so i think the stock tranny will do good with 250-300 hp for daily driving and the ocasinal run down the track but i wouldnt be racing autocross with it

this is in response to nov0606. i dont plan to make a race car out of my auto eclipse. i just want to slap on some more hp..just enough to make me happy.give it a little bark. i plan not to go over 350 hp at the most. and mabey run it at our 1/8 strip mabey a few times every so often
