well i've unbolted everything and removed my alternator from the belt. but im having trouble getting the alternator out from the car itself the alternator bracket is blocking me from getting it out from the top and my axles are blocking me from taking it from the bottom.. any suggestion's on how you guys replaced your alternator with out me removing my axles or alternator bracket?

I had to replace mine not to long ago in a bank parking lot... I managed to get mine off with out having to take anything extra out. Im not really sure how you are trying to do it, but it helps if you have jack-stands under the front of course, good luck getting it out from the top. I took mine out from the bottom with little effort its just a cramped position that its in, so with a little bit of wiggling and some luck you should be able to get it out no problem. Just double check all the bolts are out and you should be good to go!

Use a jack to jack the car all the way up in order to take the alternator out between the axle. You can take out the lower alternator bracket to give you more clerance. It takes some wiggleling to take out.

its a pain either way but take the bracket off and i went the bottom route with the car on stands

Can go up or down. Down is probably the easiest. You can use some force and pop it through the axle. Seen a buddy take a long wood board and come from the top and let it sit on the alt, then hit the board with a mallet and the alt popped right out.

dude take the bracket off the alternator!!!

then you can slip it through the top
i had mine tested a while back
good luck

my alternator is literally sitting on top on my axles right now. theres nothing attached to it at all, and the alternator bracket is on my block and i dont have enough leverage to take it off so getting it from the top aint happenin.

Well if you can't get it out the bottom and you can't get it out the top your best option would be to take your wheel off so you can drop your half-shaft on the wheel side and sneak your alternator through (not recomended). IMO get whatever extensions or tools you need to get your bracket off done :applause: If you can't get your bracket off you gotta ask yourself if your gonna be able to handle taking something more complicated apart? Just something to think about, good luck man.

I think you guys need to go back and read... no bracket attached to the alt. It's possible to get it out the bottom, just push. It'll fit.

LOL thank you, only 1 person seems like they understood what i wrote... ill keep trying and get it from the bottom even if i have to smash that thing out LOL, ill figure somethin out. if you guys took it from the bottom then all i needed to know was that its possible without removing the wheel and axles etc. ill just keep messin with it

bank parking lot? LOL nice

no no if the bracket is still on the block remove it
that gets in the way when your trying to pull it out

remove the bracket from BLOCK or alternator

i cant remove the bracket bro no leverage

One question bro... If you hammer the alt out are you going to hammer the new one in? I'm not big into "hammering" brand new parts into my engine bay.

i wanted to disconnect the tie-rod & w.e else that i need to as a last resort if i cant get the alternator out. but everyone seems to have done it w.o that so im just gonna keep trying to wiggle it out.

Have you tried jacking it up until the wheels come off the floor. Once it is the axles will hang all the way down. Gives you enough space to wiggle it out. Took me forever until i tried this method.

u get leverage from under the car
then you can take the bracket of the block

but if your going to pull it out from the bottom
just keep workin on it

i got my alternator replaced this is the method i used.

1.remove cruise control anything in the way of you getting the top bolts of alternator
2 i removed the passager side splash gaurd and wheel once i done that the alternator bracket was right there and the bolts were exposed.
3.just got a wrench and unbolted the bracket, with some wiggling i took the alternator out from the side where splash guard was located.
4 then just slide the new alternator in and start from bottom and work your way back up till your car is back together.

everyone has good methods to doing it but this was mine LOL

When I need to replace the alternator, I support the engine with a floor jack and a piece of 2x6 wood. Then I remove the passenger's side motor mount bolt, and lift the engine as high as it will go. There's just enough room between the chassis, firewall and engine to remove the alternator.

I have an RS, so there's no cruise control to get in the way.

yea sounds good
i dont have cruise control
maybe thats why i could take it out form the the top
glad i could help

thanks bro appreciate your help. i think i probably could've taken it out from the top as well if the alternator bracket wasn't in the way at the time when i was trying to get it out from the top. its hard to remove the alternator bracket from the top though, i had no leverage trying to remove the alternator bracket. i found it alot easier when the bracket bolts were exposed by removing the splash guard and the wheel. the cruise control was easy for me to get out the way and wasn't preventing me from removing alternator, but yeah everyone has different methods maybe ill try it from the top during my next alternator removal. thnx again everyone for the help!:)
