Im looking to achieve around 400hp in my 2g eclipse gst. I wanted to know what would be the best turbo to get to help me achieve these goals. and on pump gas

16g, 272 cams, dsmchipps, 1000cc+ injectors E85, BFMI, Intake, 1g tb, and driver mod! Im pretty sure you can pull 400 off that
head gasket
arp head studs
and some more stuff wouldnt hurt
but i bet you could hit 400whp with a really good tune and playing with timing
I'll agree that 400 WHP is achievable with bolt-ons and a factory intake manifold. I made 403 WHP on a factory 7-bolt longblock (including cams and IM) with a T3 50-trim. But, I had to run 27 psi and use race gas to allow for a more aggressive tune. Had I had better cams and a SMIM to evenly compliment the rest of my modifications, I easily could have made that same power with a slight de-tune and running on pump gas.400 to front wheels? e316g hands down. If you run it efficiently, you can get there with ethanol or race gas. SMIM is nice, but I've seen plenty of DSM's in 9s making over 700whp, that still use stock intake manifold.
Cams? Yes. Probably 272s with stock springs/retainers.
SMIM? No. Stock one is MORE than enough for 400hp. You won't be flowing even close to the number that would benefit SMIM.
I run pretty high idc's on my 1000cc injectors, evo3, e85 setup.Fp race manifold, and a pte 50 trim will get you that hp with no problem, and its a very cheep combo compaired to other setups.

is the hx35 internally gated, cause i wanted to run an externally gated setup
Is the stock engine able to handle the 50 trim without any modifications (cams, springs, pistons, etc.)

from my r/d recently i have been checking into that myself and it seems the best bang for your buck to achieve that goal would be the holset hx40, just my 2 cents
go for fp red thats your best bet ive seen evo 3 do it but it was on ethonal and maxed out youll be pushing it to achive that on pump!
