Ok, so my final objective is to get my 98 GST into the low 300hp range.
I am planning on installing an Evo 3 16g, punishment racing fmic kit, evo 8 560cc injectors, wideband o2, and safc .
I am running a 1G 7bolt block. 2G head, IM, and EM, tubular o2 housing conecting to 3" downpipe and 3" exhaust with cat delete. Everything is current in my profile as well.

Am I going to be close to 300hp?

you'll need to upgrade your fuel pump as well. Maybe an EVO IX fuel pump if you want to get away with using the stock FPR.

So with this set up, can anyone tell me (roughly) where I will stand HP wise.
I want to be able to smoke my brother-in-laws '94 Z28 with the LS1 (Which puts out 300hp) :hellyeah:

you may be right around you goal but only tuning with a safc you wont be able to do much in the tune or be able to reach the full potential of what your setup can make

I agree. The SAFC is a very primitive device for tuning. Enough boost will get you to 300 hp, but with a better tuning device like LINK you can get more hp out of your boost.

I thought about it. I would need the tatrix 2.0 cable and then the EcuFlash/Evoscan software correct? So roughly 190$, that's not bad.
I am pretty tech savy, but is there someone here who knows how to do this and could talk me through it?

For a 300whp goal, what you have is plenty. You don't need a DSMLink, or e85 or all these other parts people recommend to make the power you're looking for. Guys have hit those numbers on these cars with AFC set ups for years, and it won't be a stretch with what you have.

Having a custom AFC tune at a shop or logging and tuning yourself with Evoscan or a comparable logging software will get you exactly where you want to be.

Buy a link when you're looking to go faster. For your goals, you have what you need. Time to tune it.

I was able to get right near there on my 2g Talon with similar mods on crappy 91 octane here in Cali, which was my limiting factor... Some GSC S1 cams would make it easier to achieve but you can get there without them on 93. I'm running ECMlink though. I just like all the control it gives you over everything. I can't imagine using a S-AFC these days with what's available in Link.

I absolutely hate my safc. I was forced into the safc when I hit fuel cut on the 1g mas and upgraded to 550cc/2gmas. The safc alone has really motivated me to look for link. I keep hoping I will find an awesome deal on it somewhere. My plan its to tune link myself the best I can, get all my setup the way I want it and then take the car to be dyno tuned.

You will also need the Mitsubishi reflash connector.

Here's a couple of very helpful links and it is some of the stuff I studied when I was learning how to tune.

The consensus is that the learning curve is higher compared to Link but it is just as capable. Plus if you ever plan on getting an evo you can use this tuning solution and be right at home.

Unless your broth-in-law swapped an LS1 into his '94Z28, he's got an LT1. And if it's an LT1, you could probably beat it with your T25.

Bench racing aside, 300 is going to be well within reach on that setup. I'd also recommend for a stand alone tuning solution. If you're just getting into tuning, especially just starting with DSMs, EcuFlash and ECMLink put you miles ahead of any piggyback system. The biggest advantage of Link and why most people here use it is because of the support. There are countless step by step guides and videos to get your started and the staff on their forums, and this forum, are very helpful. Not saying to go with Link, but the level of support you get for a tuning solution as a beginner is something to consider.

Yeah Sorry I meant LT1...idk brainfart.
Also, using ecuflash and evoscan can I block certain CELs like you can in Link?
I have a bank 1 circuit 1 heater circuit cel that keeps coming on... and I know it is a wiring issue.

Ok, I am looking at installing my wideband and evo injectors first. Then adding the 16g and IC later. I was planning on getting used to using the tatrix + ecuflash application. If I do it this way, all I would need to change is my fuel trims correct? Or should I wait and do it all at the same time?

Ok ok LOL so his Z28 makes 275 (it's old and tired and probably making less than that) at the flywheel, and weighs 3500lbs if hes a manual. You will be making 300 at the wheel or more (340 flywheel) and weigh right around 3000 lbs. You're going to be having a giggle at his car if you have any driving skill whatsoever. Please oh please make a video.

Install all supporting mods first (fuel pump, injectors, colder plugs, wideband, boost gauge, etc.) then go ahead and throw the turbo on there and tune. You should be able to get away with 18-20 lbs final tune (a bit over 300 whp) if you can keep the air cold enough and don't forget about your clutch too. oh, and head studs would be a good idea too. You don't have to take the head off if you do it right.

I just want to say that I was amazed when reading through the comments. Most of the time when someone creates a post like this people just link them to the upgrade paths. Not one person shot this guy down and everyone came together and gave him the advice and reassurance he was looking.

Because he already knows where he is going and has the appropriate parts :)
