A friend of mine wants me to ask around so here it goes. He has a 98 gsx with a 6 bolt swap (do not know the year of the 6 bolt motor). He got a vr4 3000gt in the other day and we are curious if the gt trans can be swap into the gsx? The trans code on the 3000gt is w6mg1-0-fnbr?

There is a guy on youtube who actually did a vr4 swap (engine and drive train). I thought it was interesting. It would probably take some abuse being in a lighter chassis. Its a lot of work to do when dsms can make the same power if not more. The only upside would be the 6 speed and torque of the v6.

Would it be possible just to cut the bellhousings off of the dsm tranny and the vr4 tranny and tig weld the dsm bellhousing onto the vr4 tranny? (obviously making sure everything lined up with the input shaft and everything was straight)

Does anyone know how hard it would be to do the full VR4 swap into an Eclipse? I have seen it done and a a lot of my friends heard about it. obviously its gonna be a lot of work but that's not an issue.

he used a vr4 motor with the non turbo awd trans that is only available in japan. not an easy part to get.

for the extra weight of the vr4 motor you can run more boost / bigger turbo on the dsm.

I come from 9 years of owning a 550 hp vr4.

sorry i meant money wise. money isnt an issue. i was curious if i was gonna get more power out of the VR4 swap or get a GST or GSX. im keeping my non turbo for a DD with a little bit of mods then going for either an EVO 7 or 8.

Easier and alot cheaper to make a fast dsm vs a fast vr4.

vr4 requires you to buy 2 of everything and not alot of vendors.

alright thanks that is good to know. i only have the 420a so im going for an all motor build for up 300 hp then looking into a 1g talon
