The subject states it all.. Heard from people that 3'' exhaust is too big on almost stock talons... mods just as a bigger turbo and headers.. What the is the real answer to this.. Will this give you HP or loose Hp?

Not that bad its got a decent low idle. I have the Apexi n1, so if you ever heard that. Its a nice and deep tone at idle, but really wakes up at wot. I like it for the deep tone the it gives it. It helps it from crackling up at higher rpms on deceleration so it don't sound like a Honda.

EXACTLY! I love the way mine sounds at idle and at WOT and under deceleration. This is the way it is supposed to sound for all import cars. No fart can sounds.

OP: 3" is not too big at all. I forgot where I read it, but I remember them saying that on a stock car adding a full exhaust and a full intake piping/filter and a tune with a AFC would net 30hp. I don't think it would be THAT much, but a more flowing intake/exhaust will add more HP.

I plan on doing 3", currently I'm at 2.5"...

I know when I got my ebay downpipe they had to cut the a/m tip off because it didn't bolt up to the 02 housing right.

Doesn't sound right, but if I get a 3" downpipe will it bolt up to the stock 2g o2 housing or what?

It depends, is your 3" downpipe that you are getting like most 3" downpipes for 2gs. Meaning 2.5" before the flex section? If so, yea it should bolt up fine. People have problems if they have an EVO o2 housing, or their downpipe is 3" even before the flex where it won't line up to the o2 studs.

Oh ok, I heard about the evo o2 housings not matching up because of the slight angle.

Thanks man, appreciate the info. Oh, one more question. Wouldnt' it be cheaper if a muffler shop made the dp?

It depends. If you can get an EBAY downpipe and catback with N1 muffler and included silencer, and new bolts and gaskets for less than $350 shipped (both items together), a muffler shop would have to beat that. Not to mention, the EBAY system is SS piping and I believe mandrel bent. And if you see the EBAY thread I linked above, you will see the quality of the piece.

The only neck down (we go in detail about this on that thread), is where the downpipe connects to the catback, but both only neck down to 2.75-2.8", compared to the "real" brand name apex'i, greddy, thermal that necks down so much to where it would matter (correct me if im wrong).

So again, if a muffler shop can make you a downpipe for <$100, and use SS piping, include a cat and test pipe for easy switching, then and only then will it be better than the ones sold on ebay.

The fitment on the EBAY stuff is pretty good btw.
