Please HELP! could this be my relay? I jumped the car then let it run until it died... then did the same the the alt relay taken off, car ran exactly the same... so im thinking that if I had a good relay that the car would have died much faster having it unplugged... this leads me to believe that the relay has gone bad. could that be what is killing my alternators???

The alternator I have is 75amp with an internal regulator.... I was informed that thats what I needed...

I have a couple questions. Are you working on a 97 tsi awd or a 92 Laser turbo? Where is the alternator relay? Also I'm curious what connection was loose.

im working on my Laser and the connection that was loose was the battery leads going into the ALT the bolt itself was not threaded all the way in and was throwing sparks if I wiggled it while the car was running, never noticed it before... so I replaced and now she works beautifully
