2nd tranny and still no 2nd gear

Ok baught car, no 2nd gear, extra "good" tranny came with car. Put the other tranny in and all gears but 2 nd. Are fine. Put in2nd and hold shifter n slowly let clutch out does nothing but grind! What are the odds of 2 trannys same issue? I tried adjusting cable under center concel but no luck. Any advice/ imput? Its a 94 tsi fwd with spec clutch.

Sounds like your extra "good" trans was not so good. Sound like syncro problem.

Agreed, check and make sure your clutch master cylinder and slave cylinder are not leaking, but most likely tranny's with bad 2nd gears. where ever you got the tranny's from the person liked grinding 2nd

Under the hood when you put it in gear manually push the shift linkage make sure its going all the way into gear and not just out of a adjustment a bit, But sorry to say most likely a bad tranny my gsx did same thing with first just dropped a new tranny in it yesterday.
