No 2nd gear

Been awhile since I've checked this site out but I'm currently in the market for another DSM. I used to have a 97 GSX a/t but sold it to get a IS300 when my 2nd daughter was born. I have since sold the IS to get a MDX for our third child this year. But now the time comes to get daddy a toy for the weekends.

I found a GST for sale for $2500 but it's got no 2nd gear all the other gears works fine. I myself haven't even driven a m/t for about 10 years let alone worked on one. Is this somthing that's going to be expensive to fix or pretty easy? Everything else on this car looks pretty good so that's why I'm curious. Thanks and hope to be back real soon with a new DSM.

No second gear could be a number of different things. Most likely the dogs on the gear are worn down and it won't engage. It could be cheap to fix depending on what is damaged. You can pick up a good tranny for like 300 bucks, so it won't be expensive to fix either way.
