so ive gone through all the threads here on this topic and havent found a permanent solution for those who removed their egr valve. The check engine light stays on even with the block off plate and all hoses covered up. the only code ive pulled is the egr when the light comes on since it comes and goes half the time i clear it but comes right back not too long after. Also when it comes on my idle seems to surge when i release the gas or at a light. My normal idle is set at 900 but it seems to surge up to 2k at times or at high rev it takes a while to drop back down once the clutch is released. Any solutions out there to remedy this?

I know how you feel. I tried everything until I found out that you could but a resistor on the connector. If there's a RadioShack by where you live you could buy them they come with 2 for only 2.99 a package. Here's the link so you could check it out.
100 ohm 10W 5% Wirewound Resistor (2-Pack) : Resistors | RadioShack.com
Just but the wires inside the connector were the egr connects to and wrap it with tape and you should be good.

Do you have link? It's totally normal for the CEL to come on when removing the valve or blocking it off. Link is what helps exclude the CEL for the Exhaust Gas Recirculation malfunction.

I put a new EGR valve on this 420A and the light is back on. Are there two gaskets for this valve or just one?

i did the delete and i just leave my light on but i have heard if you just leave the egr pluged into the sensor the cel will stay off. but you can do what 420a dsm kid is talking about too. your idle will be different then before i had a hard time getting it worked out. i had to get an aftermarket ecu and mess with a few little things.
