ok so to starts out, I have done alot of research on this and other problems but could find a solid conclusion to it. MODS- short ram intake, full exhaust, rims, ign. coil and ign.wires. I had to replace my bearings in the block and broke the motor down just finished puting in the motor, New rebuilt motor, clutch, driver axle. The cars pops a engine code of p1390 which after research is saying that the car will constantly cut off and says the timing has skip a tooth or more, so i checked it today timing is great compared to hanes manual (Refer to pics) i would like any input to make certain it is dead on. Anything else that anyone knows will cause this code? besides timing? any info would be great thank you in advance. it is a 420a motor and after hearing it i really want it to stay running haha. could it be the cam or crank sensor but I checked them both for voltage and they are both getting it, so please help thank you.

Ok so I went ahead and left the timing how it was, got a cam sensor and crank sensor replaced them both and nothing the car will not even fire now im getting fuel to the fuel rail and spark someone please help im about ready to push this thing off of a bridge or something.

so new update i tried an ecu and no joy, so i dont know what else this could be about to put it in the dealer. Any ideas? :banghead:

Ill retry it but the book says to line it up with the cam at the notch marks and a half tooth off on the crank but ill re-time it and see what it does. Thanks for your input. Ill keep you updated.

:notgood:So I retimed it and it was still hard to start had to end up puting fuel into the cylinder and then it turned over ran for about 10 mins idling with no CEL. So I know the timing is right now but now it seems like no fuel so i replaced the fuel pump and got a new filter and its getting fuel because the spark plugs had gas on them when i took them out to see if it was getting fire. And of course it is not getting spark now so i replace the wires, plugs and coil with spares that I had that were known good. So none of those worked to get it spark so next i check the voltage to the coil and nothing so i swaped between the ecus that i have both fired the car before. :confused:It is going to the dealership tomorrow because I am tired of searching so any other info would be great so I can narrow down the other possibilities. Thank you in advance and thanks for the timing advise too.

I checked them and even replaced them and nothing and tried a different ecu/pcm.

Did this issue get fixed? My car has same code but fires and runs. Not big on timing so trying to figure out if it could be something else

check the pigtails for your new cam and crank sensor. I had that problem just replaced the two pigtails and had no issues again :hmm:

good luck.
