420A What to do with a P1390 code

so i just got my car and the previous owner Said he replaced his timing belt along with alot of other parts. i have been reading this dreaded timing code and not sure if my timing is off the car runs smooth and has not problems. and it may be that the pcm need to relearn the code. is it possible that if i take the car to the dealership and have it relearn the code, but what if my car is out of timimng and the pcm learns the code while its out of time will the light just come back or will the pcm learn the code wrong because its out of time.

I would suggest you start with checking base timing, also check that the timing gears are all aligned right and that none have slipped teeth.

Okay it will be a while before I get to it . I'll be gone for a week and will get that dialed in. Imy other question is if it is off will the light go away after its fixed or will I still need the computer flashed bythe dealer

How hard is it to check timing for a 420a motor. I found the 4g63 timing but not for my motor.

Check the repair manuals. I know its different from the 4g63. So im not sure how its aglined and such. Im pretty sure its self explanatory once u take a look at it. And than after that check the base timing with a timing light. Sorry ive only worked on 4g63's
And i dont believe you need to get it flashed. If theres a problem it'll just keep coming back.
