What I did when I put my aftermarket stereo stuff in, was still hook up the front speaker wires to the wire harness, that way the stock amp is still getting signal, and sending it to the dash speakers

So you CAN have them work, just don't remove your stock amp

You're mistaken. The amp isn't wired into your wiring harness -- there were 2 proprietary cables connected to your factory deck, and that is where the amp gets its signal from. The only way you still have dash speakers are if you did the above, or you either used an adaptor cable to make the infinity connectors RCA, or spliced RCA ends onto the infinity cables.

If you didn't do that, and then didn't connect the wires in the harness, you'd have no sound at all.

Run your own wires. Tap into the front door speaker wires, and put a crossover on it.

Over the weekend I took out the tweeters and looked for the black plug and couldn't find it. I have a 96 so I figured I would have it. Should I be seeing it when I take the speaker out? I got on the floor board and looked up underneath and was looking everywhere. Or am I not looking in the right location. Also is it just a loose wire with the black connector or is it plugged in somewhere. Help me out I want to get my tweeters working.

Or you can do it the easy way, look in your haynes at the wiring diagram for your amp, find the corresponding inputs and outputs, bridge a wire from the input side of hte amp to the corresponding output side. This only works if you take out your amp, But then the stereo "thinks" the amp is there, but you still haev all the connections running. So all the speakers work. If you need to know more let me know, but we did it in my car and it works. I put a PS2 in its place

I took mine out today and realized that the plugs on talons are different. Also my dash speakers work with my aft. headunit just fine i realized when i put my ear to them.

i have a 3000gt, used to have an eclipse and the amp and tweeters seem like the same thing. all you have to do is:
1. pull out the wiring harness from your stock amp (if you haven't already)
2. (optional -HIGHLY recomended) buy some pins from napa or walmart to fit in the stock harness and hook one to both ends of a 3-4in stretch of 16-22AWG wire (your preference)
3. push the 1 wire end to the blue/black then the next end to the blue/black w/ silver dots and do that w/ the blue/white red/black and red/white ones
the silver dots indicate the dash speakers.
4. don't forget to wrap your work w/ electrical tape, don't want those things shorting out across each other.

If you buy a set of components do you even need to do any of that stuff? I was thinking, I have an aftermarket head unit although I never took out the amp from under the seat, just put the wiring harness into the back of the head unit. Couldnt I just hook my door speaker wires into the crossover and then the tweters to the crossover along with the door speakers? I thought I could just do that...is there any problem?

exactly, and if you wire your speakers and tweeters to the factory wires you can simply install the xovers in place of the factory amp, and run a direct wire connection (not the oem wires behind the head! Don't hook those up!) to the xovers from the head unit or aftermarket amp

So after reading two threads about these dash speakers I want to know if the only way to get them to work is to hard wire them to my head unit. I have a kenwood excelon kdcx794 so it has all the bells an whistles on it as far as tuning. I just hooked up my HU today an noticed the dash spks didnt work an was disappointed with the sound. This was one of the hardest installs I have ever done since the PO butchered the harness and of course look like hamsters were living in it. Got it all installed finally after removing more than a hand full of mystery wires that leaves me with no r mirror lights, alarm or radar. Trust me this has been frustrating and a whole days work. I just cant stand a mess like that.

So part 2 to my question is with hooking up 4 spks to 2 channels is that going to have a negative effect on my deck since it will be a different ohm load on it? I am pretty good with car audio but this is had been a hell of a fight with my new dsm. any help or tip would be greatly appreciated

whenever you replace the head unit unless you hardwire the front dash speakers they dont work.. all you have to do though is pop up the speakers out of the dash and hardwire them to the front leads for you door speakers and I suggest putting bass blockers on them becuase youll blow them otherwise..

What exactly is hardwiring to the leads? I'm electronically retarded but trying to get those damn tweets to work as well.

It means simply just wiring them in. Its hard wired because there is no harness for it. Just wire them up with your door speakers. I would just add new wires unless you can locate the old ones

Ahh ok. The wires to the dash speakers are still attached with the original harness, they're just not working. So that hard wire would make them work?

I added my own wires but you can do it how you like. Just make sure you don't put base to the tweeters
