2g window trim (above door), what do you guys use to recoat it?

I saw a handful of threads discussing new trim pieces, sanding the old ones, etc. but never really saw what anyone used on the recoat.

krylon fusion? rubberized paint? regular rattle in gloss or semi-gloss? Should you bother with a clearcoat?

I have t he same problem with my 1G. Going to be repainting it sometime next month. What I'm going to try is using the stuff you dip the handle of pliers and screwdrivers into. I tried painting and old piece but it didn't look right compared to the rest of the trim. Interested to see what other solutions tuners have came up with. As far as clear coating only if it is gloss black instead of flat black.

I scrapped off all the old rubber/plastic coating with a razor blade and sanding them down and sprayed them with "Trim paint".

Old thread but I thought I'd throw in my two cents.

On my Honda I removed the peeling stripping with a razor and sand paper and applied electrical tape and cut the edges. A temporary solution but it's very cheap and doesn't look horrible ( As long as you trim it . )

Plastidip works the best.I did mine 2 years ago and they still look great!

Plasti Dip i did this as well came out like new used one can almost.

trim piece like that you can use either plastidip or rattle can. it is really your preference. just know that with plastidip you may have to touch it up or redo it entirely

Luckily I don't have to worry about the drip rails but I do have to worry about the trim going around the base of my top. I used paint on those, but once I put the Spyder into overhaul mode, I'll be using plastidip for them.

Plastidip ftw. Did my whole roof in it and it has held up great. Use Mr. Clean magic erasers and dish soap/water to clean it. Avoid getting wax on it or itll get a white film on it

i gust sanded it lightly cleaned it then sprayed it with a paint can . you will have to do several coats and sand between coats .

^^^^ that's what I did. Just took my time spraying and turned out great!
