2g 99 eclipse gst spyder vs 4g 20006 eclipse gt. 210hp vs 263 hp... Which eclipse is faster at the track???

depends on what type of track. drag- the 99 would lose, ive driven the new v6, and its pretty impressive i say. circuit track- it may differ, on driver skill, handling of the car and what not. the torque of that v6 is awesome though, i got torque steer up to 60 in that thing, going straight

ill take 2g over anytime. this one depends though a stock 2g might not be able to hang for that long but i could be wrong. it depends on the driver, the engine wearness and a lot more. i tell you what though that 3.8 liter can haul ass. Plus the spyder is slower than any of the turbo eclipses, because of the weight and the turbo is a 13b i think.

Stock and stock,

The 4g would win, the actually decently quick stock but the body style is :barf:

:D

What the he11-a$$-ba11s is up with Mitsubishi and dual exhaust systems? I saw one similar to this one at MOD in Socal, and it looked...okay at best. They need a new design if they want to keep the Mitsubishi name alive. I mean, Evolutions do good for the market they are intended for, but everything else isn't selling so hot. I hardly see any of the 4Gs on the road and I don't see anything else except for the big white truck things that they sell (industrial trucks...freight trucks really). So if they go back to their roots with a nice inexpensive commuter car *cough cough: the original N/T Eclipse* then they will have a market open to them. Think of it like this: Small, lightweight (Not Elise status, but at least enough so it can compete with a Civic SI), good mpg, an attractive design, and affordable to the average person. Instant money.

They committed suicide for the Eclipse name when they did the 3G IMHO.

We can only hope that the mighty 4g63 comes back in future eclipse models! That Ralliart Eclipse didnt look to bad for being a 4g!:dsm:

I have an idea - go to the track and see how fast yours is, then have that guy do the same. Or go together. Compare timeslips and you'll have your answer.

We frown on bench racing threads like this in our forums as it implies you're asking the question before you go out and street race. If you're not asking about 1/4 mile times you'll likely get your thread deleted.

People will adapt to the body style. Mitsubishi just has to use the 4g63 engine base and the adaptability to the aftermarket status the dsm market sees today. Imagine what a 4g could do in the 1/4 with the evo setup anyone?

There is no way mitsubishi will come up with another turbo eclipse awd or even fwd, because that will bring down their biggest sell The Lancer Evo. Plus i heard they supposed to make a cheaper version of evo with no spoiler, no power windows and listen to this FWD turbo. How about that.

We're all begging for the 4G63 to return to the Eclipse, but what a pipe dream. 4G63 isn't even in the EVO anymore. But the 2.4 liter version of the 4B11 with a turbo would be the next best thing :D

You do know that they are thinking of releasing a turbo DIESEL awd based on the american evo 9's drivetrain?
Mitsubishi to unveil sports coupe concept

I wanna 4g63 powered 4th gen convetable...that's all :)

Are they selling any 4Gs anywhere? WTF I've not seen a dozen on the road since they came out, while I see a few DSMs almost every time I drive to work.

Are sports coupes even selling these days? I see quite a few Miatas, very, very few RX-8s, a few Tiburons, and sometimes a 350Z. Scads of Mustangs, but who really even sees them?

I usually see about 3 or 4 a week; it would seem they are somewhat popular around here with the ladies (meaning i see usually ladies driving them). However, i see way more 1g/2gs.:talon:

This is still bench racing just like the other thread you started about it yesterday. Bench racing is pointless and inaccurate. Their are too many varibles that come to play when racing. Tires, temperature, driver experience, etc...

If you want to know which is faster, go to the race track!!

And don't post another one of these.
