I bought my car from a used car dealer. Its a GS-T with a GS motor put in it.

As far as I know the 2 different engine transmissions are backwards compatible, but the 2.4 has a lower RPM range for lower top speed?

Does anyone know the top speed a 4g64 should go near stock?
I got up to about 123 and my RPMs were at near 3500 and not going up at all, so I think I have the turbo transmission.

How can I tell if my transmission is from the original 4g63T motor, or if they swapped it when they did the engine to the 4g64 motor. any visual differences between the two?

Also I broke off a sensor on the transmission.. Not a speed sensor, but I do not know what it does. its directly under the intake and next to the headers. If needed i can go take a picture.

Assuming a manual transmission, KF5M312VVXT is a 4G64 Spyder transmission; KF5M332SPZT is a 2G FWD turbo transmission.

You can check your transmission at this location on the bellhousing for the code you have: http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/newbie-forum/385260-there-more-than-one-gsx-transmission.html#post152368965

The sensor is likely your reverse lights sensor.

Okay both questons helped.
The reverse light question was right, and it looks like i have the spyder transmission.
Thanks a lot for your help!

The reason you cant go any faster is because of a speed limiter.
If you ever see the people who did the motor swamp slap them in the face me!!!!!!:hellyeah:
And as for the sensor I'll guess but it might one of the old Turbo sensors or the clutch sleeve cylinder takes pics I have a Spyder too

Speed limiter? How does that happen how can i take it off?

Why do you want to go any faster in a convertible, especially on the street.

To win races.
Why upgrade your car to go fast anyway?
I have the space to do it.

Thats what I said"!!!!!!!!

Anyways ## car was originally a GST so its valued as a gst not a 2.4 ib be happy with the reason alone so if I was u i rather mod the engine and the danger my life

Speed doesnt win races you tard. Youre looking to kill yourself or someone else. You do realize that your IP is logged and that if some jerk cop wanted to, they could throw you in jail for what you just said? Use what brains you have left before you splatter them, leave the racing to the track people.

Best post in the thread everything else is false or vaguely true

/thread before to much false info is spread by people who have zero experience with the 4g64 spyder platform

I can say what i want. I live in the united states so i think im aloud to talk, but anyways.
Wheres that ecm on a 96 spyder?

It's located under the dash in the center console it has 4 large plugs on it from the driver side

Okay, I think we're done here.

OP, if you have any more questions NOT related to "winning races" on the street, feel free to post them in the appropriate forums. Visit VFAQ Site - Visual Frequently Answered Questions and the tech articles here for a boat-load of information before asking common questions, however.
