I will try and make this long story short, I loaned my car out to my brother inlaw to drive to school for a bit and one day he said there was something wrong with it. That trip ended with him stranded on the side of the road and the clutch toasted on the car. I went to get the car with a trailer and winch and brought it back home where it sat for over a year.

Recently I decided to revive it and replace the clutch but being busy with work and never doing a clutch on a DSM before I took it to a mechanic to have it done professionally.

When I got the car back I could tell right away that there was something wrong with it, being that is is winter here and there is snow on the ground it was easy to determine that the front wheels were not pulling at all but the rear wheels were pushing properly. I took it back to the shop and he agreed that there was something wrong and we would need to pull the transmission and check the front Diff.

My question is what do you educated folks think could be the issue? there are no strange sounds or grinding from the front end there is basically just nothing at all happening up there.

I'd like to get an idea of what I'm looking at for cost before I say go ahead and tear into it to see what we find if possible.

After talking to the mechanic I remembered that when I was loading the car on the trailer the front wheels were locked up until something popped and then they freewheeled up the trailer, I'm guessing that I maybe snapped the diff ring gear or drive axles or something.

Thoughts?

yeah I know its tough to tell from the outside, labor will probably be the biggest hit as the transmission seems fine and the clutch is already new.

yep, I know I could do it, I just don't have the time.
