Resolved 2G Thermostat housing gasket question.

Ok i have been researching to no avail. Does anyone make a gasket for the 2g housing yet? Taking my head etc off soon and rounding up all the odds and ends. Thanks in advance.

No gasket, fsm says to use rtv. Personally I like to use permatex ultra grey, but any universal rtv will do just fine.

Yeah i have always used rtv and never had a leak because i could never find one

I make my own. Any auto store sells roles of gaskets you can make from different types for specific applications.

If you're talking about the tstat housing to head gasket, then yes, they exist. It's an OEM part for various EVO's. Turns out the 2g can use the same gasket: Part no. is MD363254

Good to know, but like I said fsm says to use rtv on 2g dsm. Rtv will work just fine although it is a pain in the a$$ to clean.

I believe it's only a paper gasket. I remember I made one when I replaced my water neck, but I wound up using the permatex gasket maker that comes in a little tube specifically for thermostats and water pumps.
