Resolved 2g thermostat housing gasket

seems like i just kind find what im looking for anywhere.... is there an o-ring between the thermostat housing and head?? i cant find a gasket anywhere but it has an odd shape like there SHOULD be a formed rubber o ring in there....

only thing i can find from my alldata.... it says to use silicone

IIRC, I seal mine with RTV.

hmmm i took it apart and took head to machine shop to get surfaced and washed.. so there isnt any sign of rtv on it.. looking at the housing i can see a faint sign of it.. i just figured they would have an o ring for it somewhere.. hell no one around even has an intake gasket or exhaust... blah

I've seen gaskets for 1G thermostat housings, but I don't think I've ever seen one for a 2G.

Ya I think Advance Auto Parts sells a 1g thermostat gasket. +1 on the rtv though.

Page 14-22 volume II states use Mitsubishi MD970389 sealant or equivalent. There is no gasket for it, even though it looks like there would be a custom O ring. Just be careful to get a nice clean bead and don't miss any spots. I messed mine up when I was putting it back, because when I was putting the housing back onto the main water pipe the RTV rubbed off.

yeah i had the head clean when it got surface so thats spotless.. i guess ill use some rtv

I used RTV as well, and have no problems.
