Right, so for the past month or so, when I turn off my car after driving it for a while, the coolant tank will make a bubbling noise for roughly 5-10 minutes. Recently its been getting worse to where theres a burning smell, the tonight, i pulled into the garage and it started smoking and the temp readings went off the charts. The car has been running fine and it has coolant in it, but it's been leaking it. The car has plenty of oil in it, had it changed with Valvoline synthetic about 400 miles ago. It's not mixing with the anti freeze, so I don't think it's the head gasket. Looking at it tonight, I want to say it's a hose cutting off coolant flow, or possibly a bad radiator. Same time, the coolant seems to be leaking right around where the overflow hose for the coolant is, like it's bubbling up and pushing it out.

Sounds like boilover, Here's a checklist of things to go through
1.Check rad cap make sure the spring is ok and the rubber isn't cracked or drywrotted
2.Replace the thermostat (They are susally under $15.00)
3.Test rad fan (I have a 1g so your will be different) there is usually a sensor on the rad that if you use a jumper wire on it should cause the fan to come on also check the rad fan relay and fuse
4.Do a pressure test on the rad and see if you can locate the source of the coolant loss
One of these will most likely be the culprit if not then I would say replace water pump then radiator last

Great list of things to start off with.

Also check for coolant in your oil and or oil in your coolant.

Are you doing any upgrades on this car like exhaust? Because i has a bad exhaust and had holes in the downpipe. This caused my car to do the same thing untell the exhaust got fixed.

Checked the oil stuff last night, worried that it could have been a head gasket. I'll run some of those tests later on tonight. Thanks for the help so far guys.

uhhhh.... no. holes in the exhaust do not cause this. his car is obviously overheating. best thing to start out with since you said it was loosing coolant is to do a pressure test, that will source your leak. i would start by checking the radiator cap and thermostat for your overheating issue. anytime you are leaking coolant , should be fixed asap. good oil is not going to save your engine if you are constantly overheating it. will actually cause your oil to break down very fast. anytime after i service a vehicle for an overheat issue i always stress doing another oil change even if it was done right before the overheat as a good measure to ensure your engine is protected.

Do a pressure test to signify the leaks in the system. That will tell you if you have any/all leaks. Do you have an automatic or manual transaxle? If so, check your trans fluid, it could be that you have a broken cooler line... But yes, check your radiator cap, thermostat, ECT, quality/quantity of your coolant. It will be found sooner or later.

if you see coolant in your oil and/or oil in your coolant then it is a head gasket. if you are worried about your headgasket issue but no signs of it yet, you can always go to a parts store and get test strips, or a more advanced testing kit that goes in place of your radiator cap that will check for exhaust gasses in your coolant etc.
