Doing some serious maintenance on the rear of my 2g and decided to swap out to new oem wheel bearings. Was in process of torque’ing the bolts to 55 ft lbs when one let go. Turned the world upside down hunting MB844529. Turns out they aren’t available here any longer. Found a similar grade 10 shouldered bolt but it has threads all the way to the shoulder. And reason not to use it?

What are people doing now?

I’m guessing on the thread size and pitch, but I’ve been using bel metric a lot to replace old hardware. Specifically their JIS hardware is a good fit for many of the oem fasteners.

Just select partial thread and pick your length.

How much thread engagement do you get with the “new” bolt? It looks you may only get about 4 threads in, based on where the break is. At 55 ft-lbs, I’d look for something else.

Bad picture angle. They are the exact same length.

I ordered from Japan. Only place I know of.

Yeah was tempted, but didn’t want to wait on the delivery. Plus if I buy there, probably another grand in crap getting tossed in that cart.

I like this idea quite a bit!

Bel-Metric or McMaster-Carr work fine for this using a JIS specific fastener. It is M10x1.25x43mm OEM, you can just use a 45mm fastener.
