I can only assume I broke this relay today, but I did not know how rusty it was inside. I opened it up and it first appeared one of the tabs broke off inside it, but when you look from the backside of it there are no wires even connected to that terminal. After spraying it with contact cleaner, I pluged it back in, and now the car won't start up.

I've tried to look this up, and there's not really any good information on this relay, It's Omron,1965D6,MD 128752. I can't figure out what it even is, or if it still works or not.

It's called the generator relay in the Mitsu manual. From the Mitsu manual: "The generator relay functions as a backup for the flow of electricity to the rotor coil (field coil) if there is a disconnection or damaged wiring of the charging warning light." It actually is a resistor and diode in series but looks like and is referred to as a relay. (FYI: It is connected in parallel to the charging warning light, it's diode and the 10A fuse.) Something must be banging into it as I hear quite a few complaints of it being distroyed. You may have a problem getting an aftermarket one as every time I've asked they say they never heard of it. Should you find an aftermarket let us know where you got it and the price. Here is what is inside that...
..head out to a yard and find another one out there on a busted up '95 DSM. I've found many electrical/electronic stuff that are still good and cost pennies to the dollar for new ones ..

Spraying contact cleaner aint the answer - get a fingernail file, modeling file or similar and scrape off the corrosion to get the metal back to bright color..that corrosion acts like major insulator material.

But your dash charge warning light is probably out as this relay is a backup for that light in order for your alternator to work. So fix your warning light and your car should start (don't short this relay's connector what ever you do).

As I said it's a backup to the charge warning light (providing initial startup current to the alt's field coil to get the alt going). You don't have to have it but then the alt relies totally on the charge warning circuit (and bulb) to be functional for the alt to work. Since bulbs sooner or later burn out it's wise to have this.
