Resolved 2G Oil leak from balance shaft seal or tensioner pulley?

Hey guys, I’m getting an oil leak from the front cover. It’s showing wet oil on the front balance shaft seal to the tensioner pulley. I don’t know if it’s shooting out from the tensioner pulley and going up and then coming down or it’s coming from the balance shaft seal and down to the tensioner pulley before puddling at the bottom of the front cover and leaking out.

My question is, can I change the balance shaft seal with the front cover still mounted to the block?

Picture would help. Oil usually travels down. If something spinning is throwing it - grease/oil will go in all directions. Are the pulleys still tight? do they wiggle? Is it engine oil or grease that puked out of the pulley bearing seal? Gates idler/tensioner pulleys are prone to failure.

If you can get to the seal behind the B-Shaft gear - you may be able to pry it out, and press a new one in.

Picture would help. Oil usually travels down. If something spinning is throwing it - grease/oil will go in all directions. Are the pulleys still tight? do they wiggle? Is it engine oil or grease that puked out of the pulley bearing seal? Gates idler/tensioner pulleys are prone to failure.

If you can get to the seal behind the B-Shaft gear - you may be able to pry it out, and press a new one in.

It was the seal behind the balance shaft’s sprocket. I was able to do it with everything intact, but the seal went in tight enough, but was able to be pushed in by hand. The old seal was worn to the balance shaft, so it was leaking between the balance shaft and the seal. I pulled a sprocket off, and the seal was partially removed from the front cover already I didn’t have to even pull it out.
