Resolved 2G Oil filter housing

Good night, I recently about A 1997 Mitsubishi eclipse GS-T and to be completely honest it was someone else project car. I started working on the electric work on it with my friend ( he’s doing all the electrical work bc I suck at it), and I noticed that my oil filter housing look different compared to other DSM that I have seen. Well I don’t know what lines are needed or que type of oil housing this is any help with this I would appreciate it.

@RamenPride is correct. They are limited in the remote oil feed area as they only have one port. That is one downfall. It DOES give alot more room for the downpipe and since it sticks the filter out front, it doesn't see all the heat that the downpipe throws onto the filter.

To add, it needs / uses no lines. It is not water cooled and does not provide a port for a turbo feed. In fact, where that oil pressure sensor is located on yours is a modification to the original housing and would be filtered oil if you needed or wanted to feed oil from the housing. The only original access port on the housing is the one on the bottom. On that point, make sure that port in the bottom of the housing is plugged. I can’t quite make out a plug there.

Thanks, any recommendations on where to buy the downpipe from? I have seen a lot of different websites selling it. I also noticed that they look like a Chinese manufacturer that a found which made me question on where would be a good place to buy it from.

Originally, the oil filter housing for your car had a sensor and a switch. The one you have is for the oil pressure gauge. There’s a smaller one for the low oil pressure indicator light (often referred to on this site as the dummy light) on the dash. You can install one of those in the lower port or use a 1/8” BSPT plug to close it off. Use thread sealant in either case.

As @19Eclipse90 said, make sure you buy a BSPT plug. You will wreck the threads if you use anything else. Good point Brian.
