Hello guys, I am not allowed to post over in the tuning section yet so I hope I dont get to much grief over this.

I have a few questions about the tuning of my car.

I am wanting to do SD set up and have the ecm link v3.

With that being said I need the ecm link kit and an eprom ecu?

In reguards to the ecu my buddy has an ecm that is apparently ready for the chip.

So I have the ecm so far,

What all do I need to do to switch ecms into my 98? And by that do I have to do anything to the plugs that plug into the ecm?

What software do I need on my computer to run the ecm link?

Some insight would be nice. And maybe some exact parts list would be helpful because I'm kinda clueless.

Thanks in advance though.

First off I know I am not supposed to say this but please search and do some research instead of having others do it for you, that just shows a lack of interest and laziness. You need ecmlink and yes you will have do minor re-wiring. ECMLINK.com is where you will get the software....Research please unless you are a troll. LOL

Have you checked the ECMTuning website?

All you need is here: http://www.ecmtuning.com/wiki/

Once you get your head around what you have purchased, check out the following videos as an additional resource to the ECMTuning website:

My personal advice would be to hold off on SD tuning until you can run the car safely. From what your asking, it seems like you have much to learn from a tuning aspect. Another suggestion would be to get a user account on the ECMTuning forum as well.

What is the cost to have my ecu converted? Seems while looking up the information I missed that tidbit. Also, can I convert a 99 Blackbox to an eprom?

My car is a 2g with a 6 bolt swap.

Also the blackbox can be flashed/tuned as well, so you can either run a older ecu that has eprom or has been converted or use your 99 black box.
You can search black box tuning, I am not personally familiar but many here are so do a little searching if you haven't made up your mind yet on the direction you want to head.

conversion was $185

Thank you, for the info. I will have to do my research. My car came with a 99 blackbox, it was a non-runner so I have no idea what current tune is on it, if any. Debating between the 2 options is a headache and I have limited time to figure out which option to go with. I am hearing that link is easier to use and a larger population use that over ecuflash. But I have also read a lot of ppl have had issues flashing the blackboxes, it won't flash for an unknown reason. My fear is going with ecuflash and having it not work and then being out the money I just spent plus having to purchase link on top of it.
