I am driving myself crazy trying to tune my car. A/F ratios are so random I can't control them. One click on the fuel slider and it will go from 10's to 12's. And then if I'm crusing and I hit the gas in 5th gear the car runs very lean even though it was just running in the 10s at that rpm range on my 3rd gear pull. When I got home I looked at injector duty and at some points it was in the 90's. I have 680's, how could this be. Also, last time I tried to tune I didn't even touch fuel and it stayed in the 10's the whole time. Today, I've been adding fuel just to keep it from running lean. Any ideas on this? I'm going crazy.

You are probably going to hear it from more people than me but, when was the last time you did a boost leak test?

Inconsistent AFRs are a common sign of un-metered air entering the system or metered air leaving.

What are you basing your a/f readings on? The dsmlink estimate or an actual wideband?

nevermind i just noticed you have an aem wb.

I did one last week. I fixed a pretty good size leak right before the test too. I did a boost leak test right before I started tuning with DSMLink...

Are you new to tuning with DSMLink? Have you made sure your fuel trims are where they should be before you started to try & tune your WOT sliders? If you have no boost leaks are you sure your MAF is functioning correctly?

I am new, I've only had DSMLink for a week tomorrow. My fuel trims were fine with the global fuel adjustment and dead time it came with. I couldn't get it any better, both trims were within +/- 5. When I tried to adjust it, it just made the trims worse. I don't see how my MAF couldn't be. It is showing air flowing as the turbo spools up. It peaks out at around 36lb or so.

Based on the log in the other thread it appeared as there was a leak between the maf and turbo inlet or that the maf is hacked. Did you check for a leak in the intake pipe?

I thought I put the intake on fine, it seemed tight. I do not not have a hacked MAF. What did you see in my log that made you think that there was a leak?

Your boostest being lower than actual boost at 100%ve. If it was a gm maf or a hacked maf I would expect that though. But, it could be because your elevation in boostest props is not set up.

Boostest isn't accurate for me, even after putting in my altitude. I'm only at like 47ft or something like that.

I am not getting knock unless the car runs randomly lean, so no.

Take a step back and start over. Make sure you have no boost leaks, a properly working MAF (no leaks there either) and a healthy car. Once you do that, get your fuel trims straightened out (I like tuning with the airflow sliders vs. tuning with global) and then after that go for a WOT pull. A handy-dandy writeup from some link members really sums it all up here:

I had a small leak in my intake pipe after the mas that I've had on and off for a while... Replaced my fuel filter (I personally never changed it before, it has been changed at some point though, i was a Fram), and I tightened up the intake very nice on the turbo. Going to do some pulls and see what the car does now....

I went through everything, cleaned out my MAS (even though it was working fine), fixed a small leak in my intake after the MAS, re did my tune from scratch, checked for any leaks, replaced my fuel filter.. same problem.

I got the fuel trims pretty rich but not too rich and they were safe, and two pulls later AFRs jumped to 13 at one point out of no where. I can't stabilize my AFRs no matter what. I am all out of ideas, I followed everything in the tuning guide.

Does it seem to do it around the same rpm? Or does it do it at random rpms?

Here are the logs. I can't find the last log, but in the last log A/F's randomly went really lean in the 4-5 range I think and hit 13 at one point and then I got a nice amount of knock...

I let coolant temps get under 203 before doing another pull, so there was a short cruise/cooldown time...

What fuel pressure regulator are you running?

Have you checked any of the vacuum lines going to the fuel pressure regulator?

I recently worked on a customer's 1G that was suffering from an insanely rich condition that he was not able to figure out. It turned out to be one of the vacuum lines running behind the engine that had a monster hole in it. Once the vacuum line was bypassed, the car ran fine.

Stock

Yes, I checked the lines...

I have most of my lines eliminated and the few that are there are fine...
