2g AWD trans Help. Pics inside.

Go to second paragraph for question. I just want to tell my story because I'm bored.

Well, I hardly ever drive my car, and the other day I was driving and started to hear a popping noise coming from the passenger front side of the car. So I get home put the car on the lift and start to look, and from looking around; some random wire that wasn't connected to anything (from previous owner) got wrapped around the axle and busted the boot. So I figured great I need a new axle. Went and purchased a new one and got it installed. Took it for a test drive. Got out on the road hoping it was fixed. Gave a little WOT pull in first and that very small popping sound came back again and all a sudden it went from a popping noise to a great boom and a parts scattering sound. As this happened I thought great there goes the transmission. Good thing I was right in front of my garage when it happened.

I'm going to send the transmission off to get rebuilt but I'm just curious as to what gear this is that stripped off and what gear had small bits of teeth missing? Thanks!

That's the intermediate shaft 3rd gear. It is also the trannies final drive gear for the center diff, so it has 2 tough jobs. Bearing preloads can kill them, and old age.

Ah what I hate to hear. When I got the car it supposedly had a new transmission in it.

Could you PM me what it would cost me to send this transmission to you for a rebuild.
