Got done working on my car, axle ball joint and my suspension. turned the wheel by accident (didn't notice) and dropped it from the jacks, heard like a loud click or pop not sure and now my steering wheel wont turn nor can I turn the key. Is there some kind of security thing or does it just lock because the car is off or. here's a pic of my rack tie rod. I've taken the wheel off to make sure nothing would hold or snag it from turning. It turned before dropping it.

In the future, make sure your wheels are relatively straight when putting your car back on the ground. There's a metal block sort of device inside the ignition cylinder that locks the steering wheel if you turn it too far while the ignition is off. Sounds like you may have gotten the wheels turned a bit too far. Put your key in and try turning the wheel at the same time as trying to turn the ignition. This will be by far the cheapest and simplest way to try to reverse whatever happened. If that fails, you may need a lock smith, unless you're comfortable enough with drilling out the lock cylinder.
