Robby Camaro,

Would you be willing to give up the machine drawing for these? I have access to a maching shop and would like to make myself a set.

Kevin

Ya right

Yeah, I didn't know you were planning on selling them I guess. If that is the case, then I totally understand. Othersise, why not help me out?

Kevin

Boy does it help to have the hubs, being I dont need to make brackets. I got mine off of a 93 JDM GTO front clip.

Anyone know of a 16" wheel that will clear these 12.3 inch rotors? I don't want 17's.
I have a set of crappy aftermarket 16" wheels and they have about 13.9inches of inside clearance, and the furthest I measured with the vr4 rotors and calipers was about 13.5 or so. So I think its possible to fit a 16" wheel just need a wheel spacer so the spokes dont hit the calipers.

Robby you should make a bunch of them and sell them, do it before someone else does it and sells theirs. id buy

ok... I couldn't keep things straight in this post. Hopefully by getting this post answered- this can clear up some of the questions in this thread. Will someone outline the things need to do the 3000 GT SL Upgrade and answer the following?

1- What years of 3000GT SL or equivalent cars will the calipers come from??
2- How big are the rotors?
3- Will these calipers directly bolt on to a 1g or 2g :dsm: :talon: :laser: / FWD or AWD, or is a caliper spacer needed also???
4- What wheel size/offsett is needed to clear the calipers?
5- Does this require a wheel spacer on a stock 1g DSM wheel... can i even use one?
6- Can I use a stock 3000gt SL wheels to clear the kit??

Thanks.... Ray

BTW as a side note... anyone with 17" wheels or larger - with the proper wheel clearance can upgrade pretty cheap!!! You will need 97+ Mustang Cobra Calipers and 13" Rotors, provided you design a caliper spacer, supply a different set of front brake lines, and get a centering ring for the rotor. Im running off the Baer Kit and those are the components used in the kit.

But if your talking about using the vr4 brakes, you need the caliper, and rotor out of a vr4. stainless steal lines, and custom brakets. You can always just buy the entire hub assembly and not have to worry about making brackets.

Christ, will someone PLEASE just fab up a set of these brackets so I won't have to. Hell just sell the brackets alone and you could make much $$$! I want a set so I can upgrade my brakes! Just make one bracket for 12.5" rotors, and one for 13" rotors. That sound about right?

LOL i didnt even realize it but the first post in this thread has a link to someone that sells the brackets for 150.

Those are for the 3kGT SL brakes aka 2 piston models, NOT the vr4 brakes. I'm looking to get some brackets for a 13" rotor and vr4 calipers. They will be mine, and then they'll be yours for a lil coin :D

Anything known about making these 4-pot brakes fit a 2g DSM? I noticed the brackets linked in the first post are reported to have fitment problems on 2g's.

Can anybody compare these brakes to the Bear Track kit (from first hand experiance)?

Not to beat a dead horse to death. BUT.

My fronts are SHOT, and I want to do a big brake upgrade. I'd been looking at fabbing my own VR-4 calliper hanger, and using the 12.36" o.d. discs from the 2g VR-4.

I have Kosei K-1 TS Ultralights on the front of a 1g. With it's single pot callipers, I have 1.5" clearance tothe spokes latterally, and 2.25" to the indide of the wheel.

I'd LIKE to use this bracket (elliminate the headache of having to find someone to make one), a pair of 2g 4 pot VR 4 callipers, and the 12.36" disc.

I am unclear however if THIS calliper was made for the LATE model brakes, and EARLY disc, or if it's designed to put both late model (bigger) callipers on the late model (larger) disc?

Deos anyone in here know for sure if this will adapt 2g vr4 discs to 2g vr4 rotors and fit on a 1g talon spindle provided there is enough internal clearance?

bump

I know this is an old thread but I'm still not 100 percent sure if this will work on my 96 awd. If it does where can i buy?

I emailed the guys at electric auto and they said it would not work on a 2g becouse is would hit the parts of the front chassis. Also, His brakets are made to be used with his rotor setup that he sells becouse there would be about 1mm clearence between the top of the rotor and the center of the caliper. They should work on a 1g, BUT NOT A 2G.

Hmm so basically you'r stating that the 3000 gt front calipers and rotors aswell as the rear calipers and rotors wouldnt fit on a 2g because it would hit certain parts of the chassis?

Please explain.

I would like to do this modd if possible only because the 2g vr4's have the rear brakes for AWD models up to 1993 as ventilated, iron-disc rotors with single-piston, floating, iron calipers. Starting with the 1994 model year, the AWD cars have rear brakes with twin-piston, rigid calipers. The drum-type parking/emergency brakes are incorporated into the hat of the rear rotors. The master cylinder is the same for all model years, with a 26.9 mm (1.06") inside diameter, as is the vacuum-type brake booster, with an approximate 7:1 boosting ratio of the brake pedal force.

Considering the talon/eclipse use a drum style rotor in the rear I figured this would be an optimal upgrade for the 2g.

I will contact electric auto and see exactly what the situation would be for an upgrade like this.

Hey Rob didnt you twist you'r frame from braking to hard or was that Nick Boers?

Dsm.org right? ;)

I have read 99% of this post and there doesnt seem to be to much talk about '2g FWD' eclipses. Would the '2g VR-4' work on a '2g fwd eclipse'? I already have 18's so clearance shouldnt be an issue in that asspect.

HE said it had something to do with the front suspision hitting. Also the 3kgtvr4 MC wont work unless you have custom lines becosue the outlets on a diffrent side.
