I am getting ready to do a timing belt replacement and replace the valve stem seals on my 2g. I've read here that the 1g turbo cars have a better suited cam than what I have on my 2g. How much of a difference is there? Has anybody noticed much of a difference doing this? While I'm doing this maintenece it would be a good time to do the swap, but I don't want to waste my time doing something that may I may not be able to notice anyways. Aftermartket cams are not an option right now b/c of money, but 1g cams are pretty cheap. What do you think?

Well from what i read a 1g cam has a .01 bigger loop than the 2g so it would be an upgrade but a small one. As for the 1g cas it will take the place of your 2g crank and cam sensor you will half to do some wiring and switching of the wires in the ecu depending on what method you go with here is a link on how to do it.

I have 1g Cams and gears on my 2g and I can feel a little difference with the high end. I would recommend saving for the after market Cams then it would be worth your time to install them.

besides if you do get 1g cams it would be better if you got them out of a 93-94 because they are rated the best 1g cams for more duration i believe, i dont think its worth the time for maybe at most maybe 4 or 5 hp more on the high rpms range. Besides if you still have the T25 then it really wouldnt benefit you as much because that turbo runs out of steam much sooner than the 1g 14b anyways.

I've got an e316g. I don't really thing I want to do all of that for 5 horses though.
