Did @ATEAV8, @Dusty Landrum, or @311GSX win? Just checking, since I haven't seen the official results yet.
I was the first loser. Made it to the finals, broke out. Had him covered by a mile too but I just didn’t slow down fast enough. Car was dialed for 10.5 too but as the air got better, car went faster. Tried everything to slow it down but not enough time to figure it out and my brakes weren’t good enough. Tuners fault?

Well, then, we have our first situation of not having a winner to grant the pot to. The option that seems the most logical to me is to keep it in place and roll it over to next year's event. Any objections to that? Or other ideas? It's too bad we didn't more competitors to enter in this thread.

I support this decision. Rolling it over for a bigger pot makes the most sense to me.

Also, Ludacris I asked around and no one had any stickers to give out/sell, including the Morrisons. Was there a person designated for the decals?

I completely forgot about signing up this year with all the last minute things to make the trip, but still have the decals on from last year and won st32 LOL.. since that won't count a roll over to next year would be the move

That was my fault. I got caught thinking I had enough to send out but then finding I didn’t have very many, and not enough time to get more printed and shipped out. In hindsight, I should have reached out to all the entrants to ensure they had some and mailed them out. I’ll be sure to do it next year.

So hey guys, I was thinking maybe instead of putting all the work in to try to organize this member pot again this year (already a little late at this point), with as little participation as we had last year and the fact that we didn't get a winner, and the fact that we really aren't getting a lot of Shootout entrants keeping an active build thread here (which was really the main goal from the effort, along with building more excitement for the event among our membership), maybe we just do a member-funded group donation to the Shootout from DSMtuners.

Think of it this way - you can donate directly to the Shootout if you want to, obviously, but maybe if you want to show your support for the forum AND the Shootout, we pool our member donations together here and I'll send one large donation to them so that we can get some type of recognition for the forum at the event. Just a thought. I can send what we have from last year, or we can add to it and submit it just before the event.

I don't really know what they would do for us in terms of recognition, as they didn't show much interest in working with me on a bespoke agreement that didn't involve the standard sponsorship payment for a racing class. But maybe there's something available.

It obviously won't have the same impact as giving a nice little lump sum to one or two winners here, but it doesn't seem that it draws enough interest to get many Shootout entrants to login here to enter, update a build thread here, and put DSMtuners decals on their car. And it's a significant amount of effort to coordinate and promote this effort, which becomes tough when you see so many people not really responding to it.

What are your thoughts?

Hmmmmmm, this is a tough one for me. I think it both helps and hinders the efforts to keep this site and the entrants from the goal of exposure to the website.

I agree that participation is slowly dropping off for the entrants, and I believe part of that is the movement of us old timers to different platforms. I myself just recently considered abandoning the platform all together too. Literally days ago. BUT, thanks to the community input and love I decided to keep it.

That being said, I can’t thank this site and members enough for the countless hours I have spent on here. The friends I have made here. SO, I would like to personally offer to help literally in anyway that I can.

From my experience with the shootout organizers, now that it is out of Dave’s hands, is that they will not care at all about anything bespoke or partial to one party. It’s purely about money for the cheques to them and I get that, but we all know it’s the community that keeps that event running. I think pure exposure AT the event would be best. I feel a group donation to the pot would not do much as the threshold for mech name etc is pretty high I believe.

So @Ludachris is there anyway I can volunteer to be an ambassador of sorts at the event? I have tables and tents I would love to cover in dsmtuners stuff and can help be a point of exposure.

That last line hit me pretty good. I wouldn't want to waste your time man.

As much as I'd love to see that happen, I don't have the means to fill the table/booth with DSMtuners swag at the moment - hell, even a decal order would be tough right now. And honestly, with the attitudes I see on FB, I don't know that it would do much to sway people who are addicted to the big soshul mediuh apps. You'd just get annoyed like I do with the dumb shit people say (like "who still uses forums?").

I don't know. Let me put some thought into it. Humbled to have you throw that out there though.
