So my friend has a spare 1g throttle body and wants to kow if there will be any gians in performance if he ports his 2g manifold fr a 1g throttle body, has any one done this and ntoiced any good out of it...?

Check out Roadraceengineering.com and go to their tech section. It explains the process and gains. I am doing it to my intake manifold because I am putting my 2g head on to my 6 bolt block and its not all that hard. The gains should be a little better top end and throttle response but, check it out.

I did this mod, ended up putting the old 2g TB back on, since the 1G TPS doesn't have the 4 plugs(one of which is the open/close, i believe).
So yah, my TPS % in DSMLink kept reading 10% at fully closed throttle, causing many problems.

Um, you're suppose to swap your 2g TPS and ISC onto the 1G throttle body.

IMO definitely a worthy mod (especially since you can get one, clean it, seal it for just about 60 bucks nowadays). 52mm stock 2g TB versus 60mm 1g TB is :thumb:

Just did this mod over the weekend. It's easy to do. Just look at the size difference (52mm vs 60mm). Definitely worth it. You might want to replace the seals on them. There's a write up on RRE's site on how to do the swap.

Correct, but 2 perfectly working 2g TPS on my 1g TB both read 10% TPSVolt in DSMLink...WTF

eboy0, many 2g owners have done this with no problem, I would definitely look further into your problem. Don't give up!

Everybody mentions the RRE tech guide, here is the link those who don't already know it..

I DEFINITELY plan to do this as soon as I find a cheap 1g TB in good condition.

So is there really a noticible butt dyno feel just with the swap?

Anyone do the 1g TB swap, but NOT port the 2g intake manifold to match?

Its definitely worth doing, and its fairly simple.
just get the vac line diagrams off RRE's website and either get a 1g elbow or port out your 2g one. When you are redoing your vacume lines you also have the option of removing that pesky egr valve if you want.

I bought one used for 50 bucks. Cleaned (I mean CLEANED!), butterfly plate lightly sanded, new shaft seals, white lithium grease on the rings = sweet 1G TB :thumb:

I've only ran a 1G on a ported 2g manifold. Putting a 1g TB on an unported 2g manifold is just going to make the incoming air hit a brick wall. It actually makes it WORSE to put it on, then to leave it with a stock 2g TB.

apparently this mod only works on turbos? because i only have two bolt holes on my non turbo throttle body and they dont match up

This may sound dumb, but you did try and adjust the 2g TPS to obtain the proper values on your 1g TB? Did you make sure you had a small amount of slack in the throttle cable so that it wasn't holding the throttleplate slightly open?

I don't have a 1g TB but I picked up a bored out 2g TB from throttlebodys.com, its 62.5mm. I don't have any hard data, as I did a turbo swap at the same time but when you look at the size of the puny 2g TB, you can see its defently a big restriction, especially coming from 2.5" IC pipe, which alot of IC setups are.

I just put my 1g tb on yesterday. I spent a good hour or so porting the intake manifold. first port job I have ever done, I was real happy with it though. I thought it came out real good. My only problem now is I did a boost leak test and its leaking slightly from the gasket. Im pretty sure I made the gasket to narrow on one side So i am just going to buy the gasket from my local auto parts store. OH FYI!! I tried to buy the 93 tb basket from the mitsubishi dealership near my house and they told me they could not get it becasue it is an OBSOLETE PART!!! if they stoped making parts for the 93, well mines a 95 so at this rate I'll be out of luck in two years.

The gaskets are not obsolete - I just bought one a few weeks ago. Here are the part numbers.

MD146399 - Throttle body to intake manifold gasket - $2.82
MD340327 - Throttle body to elbow gasket - $1.96

I just recently picked up one... to match up to my Evo III intake manifold, that is! No porting required. :D

Trying to do this on my 97 Spyder GS,ported out the manifold but the article I was following said nothing about swapping the 2G TPS...which I have a spare one and will be swapping in a few now that I have read the RRE site.

The IAC in a 97 NT spyder has an inline 6 pin connector that has to be wired to the right harness and I have that as well, just not had much luck with the digram in this site...

4g64.com Forums :: View topic - IAC Swap Diagram (Inline to 2-row Rectangular)

I'm gonna try this again and if I figure out the wiring,I'll be sure to put up a simplified diagram.

Hey whats up guys .. Sorry im a newbie... But I was wondering is the Stock 1G Intake manifold better flowing then the stock 2G manifold?? and If so ... then where does the EVO III manifold fall into play is that better flowing then bolth of those manifolds?? thanks !!!

Oh yea ... Sorry forgot about that JDM cyclone Manifold ... where does that one fall into Play... Cause I seen some of these on Ebay and im about to get a new head for my car so I was wondering should I look for a new manifold while I have the car apart u know .. k thanks again.... sry about the 2 posts...
