So my friend has a spare 1g throttle body and wants to kow if there will be any gians in performance if he ports his 2g manifold fr a 1g throttle body, has any one done this and ntoiced any good out of it...?

"The second generation Eclipse Turbo ('95-'99) comes with a smaller throttle body (TB) than on the earlier Eclipse Turbo. The 1G Eclipse Turbo ('91-'94) came with a 60mm TB plate, while the 2G Eclipse Turbo TB plate is 52mm in diameter." -Road race engineering
Which is why u put the 1g on the 2g for better air flow. When you put a 1g tb on a 2g you have to port out the intake manifold to match the new bigger throttle body. OR if you use the evo III manifold there is no porting becasue it comes 60mm.

the ports on a 1g head are bigger, so the 1g manifold would flow better, and also since the tb is 60mm. the more airflow the better... 60mm>52mm

Yes the 1G IM has larger diameter runners which will allow more flow primarily on the top end. The smaller runners of the 2G IM create more velocity of the incoming air which makes for better midrange responsiveness.

Hey whats up guys .. Sorry im a newbie... But I was wondering is the Stock 1G Intake manifold better flowing then the stock 2G manifold?? and If so ... then where does the EVO III manifold fall into play is that better flowing then bolth of those manifolds?? thanks !!!

I haven't actually seen an EVO III IM in person but I believe I read in one of the threads on here that it has shorter runners than both the 1G and 2G IM's which is supposed to give better top end flow.

Someone correct me if I am mistaken on this.

Cool... Thanks guys for all the info, So I should look around for a EVO IM and its TB ... what years of the EVO can fit on are 1G's motor .. cause i'll call around to junk yards and see if I can find a wrecked one u know... what you think would that work out???? Oh yea I just got a used Turbo off ebay for cheap its chrome and says TD05-3 49178-02155 ... Cause i have a small 16G now off of a JDM galant .. witch came with my car when I got it but that says TD05H But im trying to find out if the chrome case will fit this small 16G comresser wheel thats in my other turbo??? so If anyone has a clue let me know..

You should just get a 1g TB or send your 2g to Throttlebodys.com and have them port it out. As far as the EVO IM... good luck. They are EXTREMELY rare, only a handfull of people on this site have them.... but, for your knowledge, EVO I, II, and III manifolds will be a direct fit for your 2g head. Beware that if your state has strict emissions laws, about 80% of the EVO manifolds DO NOT have EGR ports. Search EVO III manifold on here and you'll find a few threads with more information about these very, very rare manifolds.

And I've got one, suckas!!! <a href="http://planetsmilies.net" title="happy smiley"><img src="http://planetsmilies.net/happy-smiley-640.gif" alt="http://planetsmilies.net/happy-smiley-640.gif" title="happy smiley" style="border-width:0;"/></a>

I've got one too! :p

it looks like you have a 1G. In that case the EVO3 Intake manifold will not work for you due to your intake port size.
um... and that also means you already have a 1g throttle body.

I'm still trying to find a 1g throttle body, thats why I came in here. Anyone else plan on a hondata spacer while they swap manifolds? I've got mine and now just waiting on the TB!

Ive got an Evo III intake manifold Too :rocks: HAHAHAHA I love Ebay
Im in the process of getting a 1g throttle body or an Evo III throttle body.
Yeah I was going to go Hondata or Magnus with the gasket and im just going to rtv the throttle body fprget the gasket on that.

FYI, from what I've read on here, the Hondata gasket is a better choice than the magnus. I belive it was daren_p that said the magnus made NO difference.

Quite possible daren is right, but from personal experience I wasn't able to touch my SMIM after a full pull because it was so hot. After the magnus spacer it was noticeable cooler to the touch (still very warm, though). After all, it's just a 1/4" phenolic spacer versus what I remember the hondata being a bit thicker.

What... your Hondata Gasket or your EVO III IM?? If you're referring to the IM, I expect (I'm sure a few other do as well) a full write up. ;)

I don't think I'll get around to doing the install of my EVO mani until April, maybe even May'ish.

Along the lines of this TB swap from 2G to a 1G...it does seem that some 2G TBs have 3 vac ports and some have 2. Mine has 2 and the factory service manual shows 2 in the routing diagram. The RRE article shows a 2G TB with 3. Does anybody know how this translates? Since I have only 2 where would the 3rd one come from and does it mean that I need to cap 2 on the 1G? Oh yeah, it's a 99GSX.

Thanks
Jason

sd_ff22,

Go to www.throttlebodies.com, he has 1G TBs completly rebuilt, bored to 62.5mm. Look just like new, only better. I think he may be getting $225.00 no core. He rebuilt/bored my 2G to 58mm about a year ago.

estoyaqui30,

Thank you for that well known site BUT, I can recondition a TB myself for free. I am looking for a TB to recondition. If I can get myself one for $20-$40, I have no need for T.B.s.com.

I have a 99 GSX also. look on here for 2 port throttle body and you will find your answer.
