I just got the Punishment Racing 1g fan and shroud. Im hooking it up to the harness of the old fan. There is a blue and black wire on the old fan Im pretty sure black is ground i just wanted to check and make sure. By the way what is the square thing on the stock fan and do i need that? Thanks

Black is ground yes..What square thing are you talking about? The lower sensor plug that goes to the radiator?

I think hes talking about the fan motors if I'm correct, those are the only things on the old fans that are square.(To the OP is it the square box half way down the fan on the motor side of it?) If that is what your talking about No you do not need them.

If you're talking about the thermo sensor, yes that is what turns the fan on/off on the 1g's.

haha not mine ive got them wired to a toggle switch just like my fuel pump. This is a good way to do it if you can remember to turn it on i like not having to wait for the car to kick it on i just leave them running once i reach opperating temp. i flip the switch and it helps keep the temps. down. Just my opinion i think its great like this if you can remember to turn them on.

An even better way is the wY I have my slim fan hooked up. I used the same relay you use for the fuel pump rewire ($10.00 at PepBoys, even includes the plug and instructions). Mine come on when I start the car. You will never have to worry about forgetting it

I thought about doing something like that to but it takes so long for the car to warm up. To each his own as long as the fans come on at sometime before overheating your good haha

It won't affect the sped that the car warms up at all. Your car warms up with the thermostat closed. So, it warms up the antifreeze that is in the motor, not the radiator

anyone know how to wire this up?

thanks

I know what your talking about I was wondering the same thing. The square your talking about turns on that fan for the a/c. If you want to wire this up with a switch there's many threads on that.
