Bonnyville,
hello everyone.

i have a 93 talon tsi (canadian, not sure if that matters or not)

i am having quite a time figuring out what is wrong with it.

My headlights, tail lights, break lights, interior lights, cluster lights, wipers (front and back) and cigarette light all WORK FINE

BUT

my cd player, rear defrost, a/c, heater fan, power windows DO NOT WORK

I the car parked for awhile and it worked fine when it was parked, when i went to drive it again the battery was low so i had to boost the car to get it going. I have one of those mobile booster pack things and i hooked up the cables backwards :nono:(idiot i know.) but it supposed to have some circuit in it that stops anything from happening should u hook them up wrong.

so after charing the battery a couple times and still having it die after the car ran for so long i went and bought a new one. car started fine but those things still did not work.

i found out that the 100 amp fusible link for the alternator was toast. i replaced that and still, no power to windows, heater etc...

i have checked all the fuses under the hood and lots under the dash. but not all.

can someone tell me which fuses are for the power windows, rear defrost and other things that are not working?

or if you have any ideas please let me know. this was supposed to be my winter car but hard to drive in -30 with no heat!!!

i am thinking, with all the charging, boosting and hooking and unhooking the battery i blew something but i am not sure what.

someone please help. thanks.

so i bought a test light and checked some stuff. i have power at the fuse box under the dash next to the kick plate. as to where to go now i have no idea:confused:

Solution
i checked every fuse under the hood and then i went into the cabin. started checking. i came to a fuse that lit the test light on one side but not on the other. pulled it out and stuck a new one in. VIOLA everything works. I had pulled the fuse before and looked at it but didnt notice it was blown. a first glance it looks good.the contact is just barely broken.

the fuse was the 10A one labeled "heater relay" what the power windows have to do with that i dont know, but at least it works now
thanks to everyone.

Ha, I did that before on a bmw I had, oh man, had a nice burn on my hand thanks to cheap insulating rubber.

It sounds like you blew some fuses if everything was working before. Heres a thread with fuse locations and descriptions that might help yahttp://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/frequently-answered-dsm-questions/310956-1g-2g-fuse-box-diagrams-cover-diagram-fuses.html .

If everything checks out, your going to need to trace each circuit and test it at the beginning and end of it's connection to find out where the problem is.

Electrical problems ftl :notgood:

Good luck, Adam

Dude, I don't know if you're still in this forum, but THANK YOU @bikestlr!

I was having an identical issue, except mine started when I replaced the center HVAC dash piece. But I was SO confused because, same as you, I pulled (and replaced) damn near EVERY fuse, even under the hood (including the ALT. one)

It was the heater relay one, and it barely looked blown. And it's like, lower and away from all the other fuses so it's easy to miss.
