Hey guys I've been told by a few people to replace my stock exhaust manifold on my 92 Tsi (all stock) because it's still the stock 1g mani. I know everyone says go to a 2g mani or evo 3 for better flow. These won't just bolt right up and work will it? Do I need to port the manifold? If so doesn't that mean turbo also needs to be ported? Any help would be very appreciated

The mani all bolt up the same.

The 1g is prone to cracks from what I understand.

Porting will depend on what flaws you have, and what turbo

Or you can just throw down $200ish for the FP mani and be done.

All stock 14b. So the fp mani bolts right up and no need for any porting or matching? From what I kept seeing evo3 and 2g mani needed to be matched and turbo housing needed porting

You may have to port the hot side of the turbo.

FP just put the mani on sale for $175

So no matter what route I choose I need to do some porting?

I want to replace the manifold for preventative maintaince. I figured might aswell upgrade it if I need to replace it.

Porting or upgrading to the FP Race Manifold along with porting your turbo will bring you the best results.

So either manifold would work. And it's suggested since it's off to just take the turbo out and have that ported to match

Haha^. No if I just decide to bolt it right up and go as is will the gaskets work or will I need different gaskets because the hot side is smaller than manifold?

gasket shouldn't be a problem. Ive seen people just bolt them straight up to their DD's on a 14b with the supplied gaskets with no issues.

Matching the ports would be wise. Rather it be intake or exhaust your number one goal with any turbo build is to reduce turbulence and improve air flow.

Ok so I could just bolt the manifold right and and go. It's more or less a Dd not looking to crank out power. My buddy can port It he has done tons of port jobs. Looks like I'm leaning towards probally the fp mani because it's the cheapest one and pulling the turbo and having it port matched to the manifold. Porting the turbo won't call for any sort of tune solution correct?
