I have a 1g auto and am replacing the turbo and manifold with a small 16 and a 2g manifold. I already know porting out the ring gasket step causes alot less restriction. But will the openings in the manifold be larger or equal to the exhaust ports in my head? Will I need to port out the manifold openings where it meets the head to make less restriction? Also what new parts will be needed to complete the turbo swap?

Hey, I just did this myself not too long ago so I can help you out. There are 2 places that sell 1G automatic to 16g kits. They are very nice and contain everything you will need. Im not sure if you have the monifold and turbo yet. If not then I think this kit, which includes a new Manifold and small 16g is your best bet.

If you already have the turbo these 2 would be good.

If you already have the Manifold and turbo then this is what you are looking for.

As far as the porting, gasket matching is what most people do. Port the runners of the Manifold as big as the openings are for the runners in the Head/Manifold gasket. For the collector port as big as the gasket. The DSM Motorsport package comes with a new 7 CM gasket for the Manifold/Turbo, but the others dont. You can pick up a new 7CM gasket at any Mitsu dealer. Make sure to get a new Manifold and 7 CM gasket. The opening in the original manifold is pathetic.

Hope that helps.
