porting questions

im getting ready to have a shop install my new evo 3 16g and im porting a 2g mani i picked up in the classified section. i noticed a crack going down one side of the center divider, is there anything i can do to fix this or will it be a problem. i dont want peices of this to go down into my new turbo.

also how much will that step on the turbo hurt me if i dont grind it off. i dont really want to run the risk of messing up my turbine housing ,im going to try to port the manifold to match the 7cm2 gasket.

If there is a noticeable crack in the manifold DO NOT BUY IT!..The reason for buying the 2G mani is because 1G's usually crack, so what good will it do to get that one...If you need porting help there are tons of DSMers here that do amazing jobs

agreed, dont buy it. 2g mani's are for sale all the time dont buy a cracked one. Check the Mitsu graveyard.

i bought it about a month ago for 50 bucks shipped. its not a crack that will leak exhaust gasses out, its on the side of the center divider in the collector. im just wondering if there is a possibility of the divider cracking off and going down into my new turbo.

If the crack is fixable, have someone weld it. That way you wont have to worry about it getting worse and breaking off.

grab a evo3mani and port that. remain stock look and goes beautifully with evo3 16gs.

The reason for buying the 2G mani is because 1G's usually crack

the 1g's are known for cracking but the real reason for upgrading is that the runners are larger through the entire manifold.

ill try to have someone weld it, my cousin works in a metal shop and he might be able to do that
as for buying a evo mani, most of us cant grow money trees, and i just bought the turbo, i dont have much money left, after the turbo and all the fittings and gaskets that were needed also.
