today i picked up a 92 gsx. it was leaking tranny fluid and is still stuck in limp mode. i took care of the leak ran all new lines and just looped them for now. but the car is still stuck in limp mode. is there a fuse? i know the tcu's tend to crap out, i took it out to inspect the caps and the board looked fine. would like to figure this out asap as its my daily driver.

I don't know to much about the auto tranny's, but you could try disconnecting the battery for like 10 minutes to reset everything. If that does not work hopefully some one else will chime in. Good luck with it and hope you figure it out soon.

no i really dont think that will solve anything no offense. theres gotta be some sort of relay?!?!?!? otherwise iam gonna replace the tcu and see what happens/

You can try to pull the codes. TCU Codes

^ This. Based off the codes, you should be able to gather in idea if this is something simple like a speed sensor or if the trans itself got damaged. Also, look into getting the cooler repaird; Auto transmission's worst enemy is heat.

Speaking of fluid, how's the color? reddish still or brown? does it have a burnt smell to it?

There is also a fuse in the interior fuse panel. I went and checked my fuse cover to make sure.

trans fluid is clean. car is not throwing any cel's. il go check that fuse now. just incase where is the fuse located in the fuse panel

In the middle row 2nd, 3rd, or 4rd on the left. I forgot which one. It is a 10 amp fuse. Also, I don't think it would throw up a cel, or at least mine didn't. But mine was the tcu, so that could be why I didn't get a light.

ya just check the fuse it was good but just in case i swapped it with a new one. still got nothing. going to try a tcu if i can find one. hoping thats the problem. dont feel like swapping trans. is there any other relays or anything i should look for

I don't believe there are any relays. I would try and pull a code before you go to buy another tcu, just to see if it is bad. It could just be a sensor is bad or came unplugged, and you replaced your tcu for no reason.

it was the tcu! but now my alternator took a shit on me...oh well life of a dsmer i guess. fix one problem and run into another
