Im stuck, i have everything done but the bad axle removed from the transmission and im not sure how to go about it. Do i need to remove the exhaust from the 02 housing so i can remove the axle carrier bolts? Or should i be able to just pry the axle out?

Can i take off this frame piece, the exhaust is a lot rustier and i just feel like it would be easier to pull this piece off and hit the carrier bolts that way

This experience isn’t DSM specific, but if I was reinstalling this assembly without asking the forum first I would have installed the half shaft back into the car then stabbed the axle onto it after.
I seen a video of someone doing that also on a CRV. It might make it easier and as long as the axle is seated in the trans and the half shaft is bolted up it would be safe to do.

I've always held the cup and tapped the shaft by banging down to the ground onto a block of wood. Kind of like driving in a fence post.
And this being the cup or am i mistaken? And then the intermediate shaft is the end on the ground?

The times I've done it I held the CV joint cup and the intermediate shaft tapping the whole assembly straight down on a wood block on the ground to protect those splines at the end.

This works kind of like a slide hammer and it shouldn't take more than a few raps to compress the c-clip so that the CV joint cup slides into place.

Yup definitely dont have this on the old one, do i have to buy new ones or can i remove the 43 tooth sprocket

Rtmracing.com has this posted for their axles, any thoughts that the abs ring doesnt matter and it will fit fine. Like their notes say?
Also rock auto and autozone do not sell a short axle without abs except in the manual configuration. I dont know if i shouldve bought that since i have the intermediate and it would fit, because the “awd automatic without abs that they offer is also for the fwd automatic” and its the long 37” axle

Did you get the d/s axle pieces joined together? I thought probably just the new circlip was a little fresher, and had more spring-resistance to sliding in. Should be fine with some lube and the wood block method that Steve described. As far as the ABS ring, I'm guessing it can stay on, but I would try seating it in the hub and check to make sure the wheel seal is not rubbing against the face of that ring. I believe the ABS and non-ABS use the same seal, which is why I think it doesn't matter (but perhaps worth checking on some parts sites). The axle end should seat all the way into the hub, with threads sticking out the outside end. remember to apply some grease on the seal lip.

The ABS tone rings will pop off they are just a press fit if you find them to be in the way.

When you put the I.S. into the trans be careful to not drag it's splines on the seal to the trans, that can cut the seal and cause a leak

honestly Probably not the best decision to just try and fit and if it worked it worked next time I’ll definitely just pop off the 43 tooth sprocket but it spins freely doesn’t seem like it catches anywhere, rockauto gave me a hell of a time with this. But we’re almost done!
