I have a v3 lite dsmlink I just bought. I have power to the car, key turned to "on", both ends of the usb datalogging cable attached. I try to click connect and keep getting, ports in use by "unknown application". And also no response recieved! I've tried both usb ports. I have a 1g and have it set to 1g and v3. I also have a mac and have installed the correct driver, but i've tried the same program with the same circumstances on windows and I get the same thing. The light on my usb cable blinks on and off. I have no idea what the pronbem could be, any help would be of greatly appreciated.

Chances of a faulty cable are slim if its new. (99% of problems are indeed driver based issues. Double check the drivers. If you diddnt manually install them do so.

Update. I reinstalled the mac driver called FTDIUSBSerialDriver_v2_2_14, tried it again and no luck.
I took the eprom ecu out and installed it into my 92 awd stock talon and still same issues. The link is not brand new I bought it from a member here. The cable, and install cd are from different places. Even ecmtuning support doesn't know why this would happen.

Ok I realize something is wrong here. I followed the ECU initial setup video from ECMTuning. Injectors are dialed in, MAF is set for my MAFT, target idle is 900rpm's.

Take it easy on me I'm still new to this, where should I go from here?

Is this log from version 3 of the software? If not, I recommend you download version 3 and post another log. Once you have the initial setup confirmed, then go ahead and start your idle tuning, and then on to WOT. Make sure idle tune is good first, even if idle seems ok acoustically. Get a nice long log, don't just start her up and then shut down in 5 minutes.

If you haven't seen it here is a good reference: http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/articles-tuning-ecu/262460-basic-dsmlink-tuning-guide.html

I recently got bit by this problem.
It ended up being a female end in the plug that goes into the ECU. Try moving the ECU in a few different positions and see if it will let you connect.
Pull the plug out and make sure EACH female port in the plug is tight; I had one that the ECU pin would not mate with well and originally resulted in an intermittent connection then wouldn't connect at all.
