1g bov leak?

Okay I just bought a 1g bov for my 98 gst along with the adapter. First thing I noticed when I took off my awesome plastic bov is that the tube that connects to the intake fit very loosely on the 1g bov... Is that normal? Well I tightened up anyways and connected it all up, and went for a drive. I noticed when I got into boost that it sounded a lot different, it sounds like a higher pitched whistle than normal, and when I shift it's also high pitched. I'm not really sure if I am losing power or not but if I am it is just a little. I watched video's on youtube of the 1g and it sounds just like normal boost until they shift, and when they do its more of a pshhh sound than a whistle, idk I'm not just not sure if it's leaking or what. Oh, and I can hear it at idle slightly.

If you are concerned, do a boost leak test. As long as it is working and preventing surge then don't worry about it.

Okay, I'll do a boost leak test eventually, I'm really new to all this stuff so bear with me. But yeah, I just noticed that with this bov my boost stays up much higher, well according to my not accurate stock boost guage. The only thing that makes me concerned is the high pitched whistle between shifts. It's like pssssssssssssssss instead of a pshhhh noise.

Im trying to remember if you cant adjust the stock bov's or not. That happened to my buddies aftermarket one but we just adjusted the pressure. But as for squeeling goes to the deeper ton maybe it cpuld deal with it holding more boost? So much in fact it makes it do that? Seems unlikely but its theoretically possible. Or not? Idk

As i remember adjusting it allows the spring in the bov to release more rapid or not. But it doesnt seem a bad seal would allow it to hold pressure better as he says. It only does it when te pressure releases unless he bought a junk bov. I dont think mitsu. sells rebuild kits for them as say would some aftermarket brands do

An wouldnt a bad seal cause a boost leak leading to him not beig able to boost to higher levels let alone sustain it?

well first off I didn't buy an uicp because of money, I actually didn't even plan on buying a 1g bov untill I could upgrade my boost, but I found a deal on... ebay... I spent $30 for it, so possibly it could just be a poop bov. I took the intake hose off just a little bit ago, and at idle the valve is slightly open, when I rev it it closes then opens when I let off like it should, but that wouldn't be under full boost. So idk, maybe it just leaks, but then again I don't really feel like I'm losing power... so I have no clue.

Edit: When I get on it, I hear the turbo spool like it should, sounds normal, then when it gets to a higher boost it sounds like the bov starts to leak, and when I shift or let off it, it seems like that same sound just increases then fades away. for example...

(turbo spooling) (turbo spooling + bov whistle sound) then I let off (bov whistles louder, then fades off)

post a video. Im more than willing to bet your worrying over nothing at all. When I changed to a 1g bov not only did I get a huge sound difference I also picked up a noticable amount of power because it wasnt leaking so badly.

i cannot tell from my laptop but from what it sounds like thats healthy sounding. i cant kinda hear the whine at the beginning but that sounds right i wouldnt worry about it man

haha no problem, and I would've taken a video but the belt I was about to replace broke today on my way home, and that was my alt and water pump and whatever else belt, so my car was overheating, pulled over, etc. etc., all and all, bad night. So tomorrow I'm replacing the belt, and then I'll take a video of how my bov sounds.

My friend accidentally found out my problem, well most likely. He had his hand around it as I revved it and he noticed air coming from the uicp, I didn't put any sealant in it when I put the new one on... SHOULD be good now, hopefully.
