1g Big Rods or Eagle Rods

Hey guys

i am about ready to start putting my new short block together. I am stuck between two choices ough.....i dunno if i should go with an eagle rod or stick with the 1g big rod w/ a forged pistons. My goals will probably never go past either running my current Evo III 16g or possiably in the future a 20G. Any input on this will be greatly appreciated

Depends how thick your wallet is, but since rods are only like $300, I'd rather be safe than sorry. I did Eagle/Ross and am only running a s16g. I have little fear about busting my rods or pistons. Makes me feel are warm and fuzzy inside, like when there's a guarantee stamped on the box. (tommy boy reference)

1G rods are good up to 500 whp, just put in some ARP bolts and get them resized.

Yes but you also need to look at the different metals have different expansion rates also... This is what I read and have no expertise in this matter but it may be worth looking into.

I went this route in my 1g rod/2g piston motor. The ARP bolts cost about $45 and the resizing on the big end was about $40.

Buschur has actually squeezed close to 700 WHP out of the 1G rods on more than one occasion. If you have the $300 or so to spend on new Eagle rods, then go ahead and get them. But if your budget does not allow, then don't worry, the 1G rods should be more than acceptable.
