So today I didn't feel like walking to work so I figured I'd try a few things for my car to run. It would not rev up past 2k with the MAF plugged in but as soon as I unplug the MAF it rev all the way up. I took it for a drive to work ( check engine light on) would rev to 3 cut out then clear itself all the way up till redline with the MAF unplugged.

I'm so confused is my MAF bad cause I thought it won't supposed to rev up at all with it unplugged?:hmm:

Also my CAS is fully advanced doesn't look like it should be.

I have no way unless I go out and buy a multimeter. The check engine light goes off when I plug the MAF back in.

Also while driving with it plugged in, once you get it to go past 3k which takes a lot of peddle play it will cruise with a stutter. The check engine light will pop on then it will sound like the car cut off then I tap the gas the light shuts off.

no i dont have one of those yet.if my timing was off on the cas would my car run off the maf??cause thats what im fallin towards

I mean you can use a multimeter its just a pain if you ask me.Have you taken your car apart recently?

got the car bone stock.recently changed out the turbo threw in a small 16g and a 3 in full turbo back exhaust not seeing any signs of vacuum leaks

ECU Code Checking

You can also use a 12v LED I believe or an ANALOG multimeter. The digital multimeters are difficult to get accurate readings from because the voltages change so quickly.

Also you should probably adjust your CAS if it looks fully rotated in one direction. You will want to make sure you set your base timing.

Engine Timing

Then you will want to follow up with the standard BLT check. I would also suggest against going up to redline without the MAF plugged in or the car running properly. I wouldn't want you to sustain any damages to the engine.

Check your ecu for leaking or bulging caps. Get a good wiff in there when you pull the lid off to, if it smells kinda fishy the caps leaked for sure. Had similar symptoms when I bought my car and an ecu rebuild fixed it. Also with your timing set properly the cas should be near center, equal gaps on the sides of the bolt. If it is clocked all the way in one direction your timing belt is probably off by a tooth.

thanks guys im a check the timing out today cause i think its gotta be off cause my crank pulley ate my lower cover down and the top got loose touching the cam gears.and i ordered a 2g maf with some rc 550 injectors that ill be throwing in.....thought id upgrade the maf instead of buying another 1g one.

yea timing is my number one priority right now looking at how that cas is fully advanced.

usually if u unplug the maf and it runs better its probably a bad maf. also check your timing. your cas shouldnt b cranked all the way one way
