This may seem like a foolish question, but how does one properly adjust the alternator belt tension on a 1g? It appears there is a lock bolt and then the adjuster bolt. My lock bolt in ridiculously tight and will not turn. I just wanted to confirm I'm not doing this wrong. Thanks.

Solution
There are 2 bolts on the tensioner. One on the side that controls the turning of the other bolt. And then they other one is in the back. First you loosen up the one on the side *its pointing towards the side of the car. It's the easier of the two to access* you loosen that one up.

Then you turn the other one either left or right depending if you need to tighten or loosen the belt.

Solution
well i have a 2g but my belt was completely frayed and needed to be replaced and i brought it into the shop and there was no way of getting that tensioner out, so i had to have it replaced, and its an expensive part. I was told that if they kept turning the bolt, it would just snap off and have to replace it anyways. So i dont think your doing it wrong, but its going to be hard to do, you could try heating the bolt up a little with a torch and it should make it easier to get out. hope that helps some
