OK so i picked up another 1g 92 talon awd the guy that i bought it from did a motor swap but instead of putting another 6 bolt in he put in a 1g 7 bolt rebuilt and reused the 6bolt transmission WTF now my main question is for the front motor mount closest to the radiator you cant get it back on because its a 6bolt transmission and 7 bolt engine so what are my options has anyone else had this problem???? ill also take some pics in a few hours so you can see

The first generation 7 bolt engines still had the mount on the front and back of the block and should be identical to the 6 bolt block. The 2g 7 bolt engines did not. If the previous owner put in a 2g 7 bolt, you need a new engine or fab up some custom mounts if you're good with a welder.

Don't get confused now, manual transmissions are not specific to 6-bolt or 7-bolt engines. There should not be an issue if 1) you are using a 1G 7-bolt engine and 2) both front and rear engine mount brackets from the 6-bolt engine have been transferred to the block now in use.

i am guessing its a 2g 7 bolt swapped in this 1g because the block has no mounting points for the front motor mount

just trying to figure out a solution for the front motor mount rather than swapping motors

In that case there is no solution outside the realm of a custom mount like FLASH1970 suggested, as far as I know. The most common way to do that is to also use a 2G transmission that has provisions for a mount to bolt to it. Being that it is a custom job, there are probably a number of different ways to go about it.

How does the rear (closest to the firewall) mount bolt up?

rear mount is bolted on and fits fine so looking at this motor some more i am guessing this is a 2g 7bolt engine with a 1g 6 bolt head????:banghead: ill take some pics to show ya

A 2g 7 bolt engine only has a mount on the driver's side. The other 3 are on the 2g transmission. So if the back mount is attached to the block, then it can't be a 2g 7 bolt engine.

Wow, how very interesting. I've been wrong for some time then. That is a 2G block and, looking at yours and other examples, they do have provisions for the rear mount (some, if not all). However it remains that the front has nothing for an engine mount and something custom will need to be created. You may be able to have the front bracket welded to the block somehow, keeping the original mounting place on the frame.

now the question is how to make the mount work i might just have to pull the motor out and just swap in a 6 bolt i have a 6 bolt in decent condition but i was hoping to keep this 7 bolt cause its a brand new rebuild with 0 miles

Have you poked around to see if they are just filled with junk from when the motor was redone? I haven't looked at mine to see where the mount goes, but I can see some flat spots on the motor where it looks like the mount could bolt to. If you want, I can get some shots of mine tomorrow and post them so you can compare.

If they were there, they would go where the two large bolts are in the (more or less) center of this picture of a 1G block. As we have already discussed, a 2G engine and transmission is mounted in the car with one mount on the timing belt side of the engine and three on the transmission itself.

Here is the front of a 2G engine. You will notice neither of those holes are there.

You might just want to put a poly mount or a solid mount on the back side and call it a day.
