So I own a 1999 Eclipse GS, recently its been turning off, it wasn't the fuel pump, ignition system. I checked the fuses and nothing so I thought it was the fuel filter cus I haven't changed that in a awhile.

So I put a new one and everything was running smoothly for like 2 weeks then out of no where it turned off on me when coming to a start, I started it up after like 20 sec it started, I put it in drive and it died again and I kept trying to turn it on same thing, I got it to move a bit but it died in the middle of the intersection. Luckly there was a Pep Boys there I took it left it. After an 2 hours they said they can't do anything because its too low.

Anyway I returned started the car it ran fine then I parked cuz I had to drop some mail off then I got in and turned off after driving for a couple sec after that same shit it kept dying or going like 8 feet then dying so long story short I pushed my car home like half a mile.

The only check engine light I have is P0455 which I don't think it's the reason why. My buddy says it might be the electrical system. (yes i checked fluids when it first died everything was topped of) Any help would be grateful. Sorry for the long paragraph

You know for a fact it isn't the fuel pump? Have you checked fuel pressure when it dies and doesn't start? Have you checked spark after it dies also? I'm not saying it is but I've had crank sensors die out of nowhere on my 420a. If you've already replaced it and with a cheap one throw it away and buy a quality one, I've been down that road. Just a few questions and suggestions to see where things are.

Yea I just changed the fuel pump and it idles fine in park/ neutral on the other hand D/2/L dies right away or seconds after I put it in those gears. When I shifted it to reverse doe it didn’t die I went back a couple inches back it didn’t die (couldn’t go that far back family member was behind me in the driveway) and where would I find a high quality crank sensor. Thanks
