I'm wondering what would be some good mods for my 98 2g Eclipse GS.
I already have my wheels and tires picked out, they're Audhan ds07 18x8.5 35 with Falken Azenis rt615k (tires)
What coil overs should I use
Headers? Exhausts?
Carbon fiber? (Interior or exterior)
What about a starlight headliner?
Quick release steering wheels?
Any engine mods?

I already have 4 DC audio M3 8 inch subs and sound cubed mids n highs with a jp23 amp and some jp 4channels

Let me offer this advise. It is difficult for us to advise anybody, not just you, what parts you should or should not buy if we don't know the intended use for a vehicle. Yes we can make assumptions but for the sake of argument this works better if you tell us what you're doing. Also tell us your skill level with mechanics, budget etc. If you intend to have parts installed any automotive project can get very expensive. Anything you add to the vehicle that changes vehicle dynamic typically comes with a compromise. From experience I can tell you that you should plan for these compromises. It sounds like a great idea to buy the "best" tires money can by, corners like its' on rails, etc.....until your daily driven car encounters snow or maybe even just rain. Same goes for the coilovers you asked about. They may improve cornering performance, they may not. Do you know about suspension geometry? Spring rates? Bump steer? dynamic toe change? Be careful what you wish for. Please fill out a vehicle profile.

It all really depends what your goals are and what you expect from the car. There's many routes you can take with parts but each have a different effect.
-Paul beat me to it.

In my experience, it's also best to knock out the car in quadrants. Interior, drivetrain, exterior, and suspension. Not in that particular order but you see what I mean. It gets messy when you partly finish one section and already start on the next.

If you're looking to increase engine output, I'm the guy to talk to. But my recommendations will change depending on how you use the car and what you want from it.

Regardless of intent or use , it’s never a bad idea to turbo charge your car , I have no knowledge of the 420A but with most NA engines this may require building the engine to accommodate the pressures

so my recommendation is source a back up engine and take your time building your knowledge and understating , it’s very rewarding and satisfying.

Im probably being biased, since the 4G is factory turbo and the feeling is … the happiest I can recall feeling.

But based on your own suggestions, you may not be prepared to do this at the moment.

Let me try this again.

I'm getting a 98 2g 420a. I want it to be a fun car to drive around with, do a couple races against cars in the power range (140-190) even if I get walked it would still be fun.

What would be most recommended?

Power-Air intakes, cams, exhaust+headers and?
Exterior-carbon fiber? What would be a good wheel and tire set up? Staggered or squared?
What about coil overs?
Can I baby tune the stock ECU? If not what would be a good alternative?

What are some cool interior mods (starlight headliner is locked in) what about shift knobs or short throws? Door cards?
Audio-i have the subs already, 4 DC audio M3 8s but I need to know, what are the sizes of the mids n highs? My dad has been building systems for years so this is gonna be a show build (for car audio) him and my sister placed 1st and 2nd in the world for SQL.

I eventually want this car to be a very clean show car (years and years from now) so, how should I do it?

The new thread was deleted moments before I could post, so here it is copied and pasted:

"Your driving needs to be ON POINT to compete with a modern car making 140hp. While the power output is theoretically the same, your engine has definitely worn, and modern cars at this output are generally lighter to meet modern MOG restrictions. Make sure the engine is tuned up (maintained) and perhaps shed some extra weight from the car.

If you want 190hp, even if we're talking @ the crank, you'll need all of the above modifications. It takes some serious airflow and fueling mods the get the 420A up to that speed. I'd personally consider it simple and easy, but remember that you're starting with something designed to be meak.

If you want best bang for buck, I recommend these 3 things to start with:
1: -60mm Jeep throttle body. I won't drive this info into the ground anymore than I already have. It's all around these forums, and all over the internet really. You can use a 90's to early 2000's Jeep 4.0L throttle body with a little modification. I've posted about it many times here as well as other members and there's a full how-to on 2gnt.com. It greatly increase throttle response and slightly raises peak horsepower and torque. You're getting rid of the stock bottleneck throttlebody.
2: -Megasquirt MS2 or MS3. This is a standalone computer, our best tuning solution. Whether your 420A is heavily modified or bone stock. If you want it to be powerful and competitive, you NEED this. The stock ignition timing is garbage. You can advance it significantly on 92 or 93 octane and pick up some decent power. And if you have a large amount of airflow mods, you can now add the extra fueling which the stock ECU cannot do.
3:-Underdrive pulley. I've personally explained how minimal the results were from this, but comparative to any other 420A bolt ons, the results are the same if not better. I did notice the engine having a bit more "pep" if you will and definitely revving up at a higher rate in neutral. The gains are there, and while not blowing your socks off, none of the bolt ons will do that.

Ultimately there's a seriously long list of modifications that you can perform with tons of research behind each. Like I said in your other post. What I listed above is a great starting point. You'll really feel the engine wake up and be somewhere around 155hp @ the crank if it's tuned by a competent person. From there it's time to crack the engine open and make serious changes."

I have seen your posts about the throttle body and your post from '19 talking ab how you can't find the megasquirts anywhere, is that likely to be an issue id run into?
I have also seen your video on yt about the exhaust, I know most brands have died down so what would be some good catbacks or catless exhausts or headers?
Is there anything else I should know?

The thing is too if you want to race people adding heavy audio equipment is only going to slow you down. Unless your talking about adding that all later. Either way it'll be fun.
I'm not trying to be super fast, the first thing that's going into that car is the subs😭 but I wanna add more power just so I can have fun w some of my friends on Maple ave

I'd just say take care of it and have fun. I loved my 420a I first got in high-school. I knew it wasn't fast but it was loud and reliable. I kept saving up for a turbo kit that never happened, because I found out about the gst after that.
Extremely reliable but I still don't know what exhaust

Finding and purchasing a Megasquirt shouldn't be an issue. I'm not even sure what the issue was back then, but the products weren't displaying on their website at the time that I was looking. Everything is visible and available now.

If you want to go catless, the Megan Racing test pipe is what I used. It seems great quality for the price and comes with hardware. It's also surprising the difference in sound it makes.
- Well I was searching for a link to post but discovered that they are now discontinued. Looks like the only option is a lower quality unit. It can't be great at the price but should get the job done. It's so painful how many things I've discovered as discontinued for our cars, especially things that I personally bought and recommended.
